1st Round Pick
LHP Smitherman Age: 19, 87-91 MPH, D Control, C Stamina, D Cutter, C Slider, D Forkball, C Potential,

Scouting Report: Smitherman will make a good anchorman with his high-C stamina and his lovely breaking balls. He's is also a young lefty which helps.

2nd Round Pick
RHP Kershner Age: 19, 81-85 MPH, E Control, C Stamina, D Cutter, C Curveball, F Forkball, C Potential,

Scouting Report: Kershner needs to improve his velocity and he could help quite a bit.

3rd Round Pick
RHP Price Age: 21, 79-83 MPH, E Control, C Stamina, C Cutter, F Slider, C Curveball, D Potential,

Scouting Report: Will likely be cut pretty soon unless he can develop his fastball.

Logan: What are our trade focuses?

Tim: Well, I think we need a solid starting pitcher to rock our rotation and a second baseman.

Logan: What pitchers are looking for trades out there?

Tim: Well, I've specifically been looking at Phil Hughes of the Yankees.

Logan: How can we get him?

Tim: Well we could offer 1B Inglett. He does have a B in power but it's barely a B. Huffman could easily replace him and we could move Sandberg to the DH role.

Logan: Seems like you have this all planned out! How about a second baseman.

Tim: Well, I've been looking at Jose Lopez of the Mariners and Mark Ellis of the Athletics.

Logan: How do we get them?

Tim: Well, we need to get rid of outfield prospect Cannizaro and he's pretty solid overall so I think we could be able to get one of them.

Logan: Alright, we'll look into it.

Broncos Sign Advanced Prospect
The Las Vegas Broncos have just signed an advanced prospect. He is a starting pitcher by the name of Miles Stratton. Our scouting report on him is this:

LHP Miles Stratton 88-92 MPH, C Control, A Stamina, B Slider, A Splitter,

He looks like a very solid pitcher and should help the rotation quite a bit.

Broncos Fire Trainer
It has just been announced that owner Case Royal has fired 29 year-old trainer, Tony Travolta. Case said he fired him because "Our players were not improving fast enough". He has hired 36-year old, Lindsay Wells to be the interim trainer.

Logan: How are the trades looking?

Tim: Unfortunately, the Mariners don't want anything to do with Cannizaro, and think there's a 1 star chance that the trade will go through.

Logan: What about Mark Ellis?

Tim: The A's say that there's a 40% chance (2-stars) that this trade will go through. We could request it but I'd rather be safe and get someone else.

Logan: Who else?

Tim: There's a 40% chance that we could get Ronnie Belliard from the Nationals, there is also an 80% chance we can get 2B/SS Aaron Miles from the Cardinals for Cannizaro, I really think this is the way to go.

Logan: Miles' 2-position citizenship will help him be a star for the team as well.

Tim: Let's send the offer!

Logan: Unfortuantely, Tim, the trade offer has been rejected, it appears the Cardinals value Aaron Miles.

Tim: Well, I think we should offer them someone else, maybe reliever, Borkowski.

Logan: No hurt to try!

Logan: They rejected it again!

Tim: Well, I have been looking at some other possibilities, we could acquire IF Ramon Vazquez (EDDDBE) from the Astros for a 5-star deal!

Logan: Great let's get him!

Broncos Acquire Ramon Vazquez!
Today, June 18th, 2008, the Broncos and Astros have just announced a deal. The Broncos get Ramon Vazquez, and the Astros get prospect OF Cannizaro. Vazquez will start at second for the Broncos.

Logan: So who can we get for the mound?

Tim: Well, it appears the Yankees have made Phil Hughes untouchable, so it looks like we won't be getting him. But apparently, we can get Sergio Mitre from the Marlins for OF Trammell (EEEEEF) and Reichert (LHP 87-91 F Control C Stamina D Cutter D Slider F Curveball) for a 60% chance.

Logan: That's look good to me.

Case: Inglett hasn't been looking great lately... Anybody we could acquire to replace him as DH?

Tim: I've been looking at Yankee OF Melky Cabrera lately and he looks like a good replacement.

Case: How do we acquire him?

Tim: We could try trading away Inglett...

Case: Let's try it!

Like the deal for Sergio Mitre, currently looking at him too for my log, anyways Gallagher is on a tear, is he a success mode character? Or did you luck out with him as a random gen?

Like the log so far though.

Case: So how's the Melky deal coming along?

Tim: The Yankees aren't cooperating and do not value Inglett at all.

Case: Who else looks good to deal?

Tim: Star pitching prospect Brunet gives us a 60% chance but I don't know if we should risk getting rid of him.

Case: He looks to have star potential so I'm not sure either...

Tim: Josh Baldwin is 40% and we have 2 prospect 3B to replace him with.

Case: It doesnt hurt to give it a shot!

I like the conversations between Case and Tim. But it seems like they're just mindless robots who are negotiating deals for the master human.

.....

Maybe add more diversity when they're talking to each other.

Shawn Gentry (Western Scout): So Case, I've been looking at this high schooler lately, he's a senior, his name is Eric Peavy. He was born in Hawaii and he moved to California 3 years ago at the beginning of his freshman year. He looks very solid.

Case: What's your report on him?

Shawn: Here you go sir...

Shawn Gentry wrote:
Eric is a pretty versatile shortstop. He has a batting average of .613 at the middle of his high school season which blows away everyone else in their Division II conference. He also has 2 homers which is 3rd place in the conference through 22 games. He has a .994 fielding percentage which leads the conference. If he goes to the MLB from high school, it's expected he'll change to second base because of his weak arm. His main focus during practice has been to improve his defense. My report: Contact: B, Power: D, Speed: B, Arm: E, Range: C, Glove: B, Now obviously this report isn't perfect, considering he's facing Division II pitchers.

Case: Nice, so, he'll be entering the draft next year?

Shawn: Yes, that's what we expect at least.

Case: If he enters the draft next year it'll be during his freshman year.

Shawn: You are correct, and since he isn't very well known across the nation we could nab him in the early second round.

Case: That's nice to know, I can't wait for more info!
