If a guy has poor arm strength, his speed can make up for it, as he gets to the ball quicker.

make sure you have good starting pitching and at least one dominant reliever. then make sure you have excellent defense up the middle (C, SS, 2B, CF). have good speed and contact hitters, plus one or two power hitters to drive them in. that should give you a solid foundation for success.

2B and SS are definatly positions where you need defense, especially if you're gonna play alot of games.

I had an injured up-the-middle defense so I had Alberto Gonzalez and German Duran take over at shortstop and 2nd for awhile and turning double plays were impossible and it cost alot of runs which obviously costs games

It's good to have a pretty good defensive 3B but he only needs D's and C's to get him by defensivly, you need a good center fielder with speed and a right-fielder with a good arm. It's good to have a guy like Dave Roberts in left field in a small left field like Fenway becuase he has a bad arm

1st baseman don't really need to worry about defense and having a good defensive catcher is great for throwing out basestealing and for not allowing passed balls

i think starting pitching is a must ( if u can hold the other team 2 3 runs or less, than ull only need 1-5 hits to win)

(no love for relievers :o )

Relievers can't be very effective unless the starters are.

Speed is essential for outfielders. Otherwise, it's nice, but not neccesary. You need to cover the outfield, and there is a stronger emphasis in speed for the outfield then in real life. Other then that, starting pithcing. Most people can tear the skin off the ball with the bat, but the tough part is pitching. If you've got that down, then you might as well have the world series trophy in your hands.

I always use arm strength as something I use in outfield but speed is pretty good too. You needa choose wisely defensivly in the outfield depending on the outfield. For instance, I was able to put Dave Roberts in left field in Fenway Park because I don't have to worry much about his arm there and defensive liabilities can make their living at Minute Maid Park or Fenway

Its very hard for players to have F or E arm strength in places like Comerica because its such a spacious ballpark and its especially impossible in Panpaka

Or Golden Apples. I put a expansion team in there and their 2FEFFEF guy is leading the league with 9 triples in April!

Haha wow. That might just be the person playing the game rather then the player himself (as in you, not the baseball player).

What do you mean? It is impossible for the relievers to really win games unless the starters put them in a position to do so.
