Tikal- A Closer Look Tikal, the teams' opening day starter, had a good season. While she didn't have a great strikeout pitch, her original pitch, the "Chaoball", was able to force a lot of weak contact and ground balls. This allowed her to work quick innings, as she averaged 6.2 per start. Unfortunately, Tikal went down with an injury in Mid-August that ended her season. To celebrate the Irl end of August... (cause I skipped it in the log) August Review: Starting Pitching (Monthly totals in parentheses) Tails the Fox: 14-6 (3-1), 177.2 IP (35.2 IP), 28 GS (6 GS), 193 H (37 H), 83 R (18 R), 81 ER (16 ER), 49 BB (12 BB), 134 K (31 K), 2.75 K/BB (2.58 K/BB), 16 QS (57.1%), 20 HR (4 HR), 294 TB (54 TB), 758 PA (153 PA), 4.10 ERA (4.04 ERA), (.278/.332/.420):(.264/.327/.386) Analysis: Tails had a good month of August overall. His ERA was inflated by a particularly poor start against San Diego (8 runs in 3.1 innings), but outside of that start, he was 3-0 with a 2.23 ERA. His last start of the month was a complete game shutout against the Giants. Verdict: A Rank Tikal the Echidna: 8-7 (0-1) 166.0 IP (11.1 IP), 25 GS (2 GS), 178 H (18 H), 87 R (10 R), 76 ER (5 ER), 44 BB (1 BB), 61 K (5 K), 1.38 K/BB (5.00 K/BB), 15 QS (60.0%), 15 HR (2 HR), 265 TB (19 TB), 698 PA (55 PA), 4.12 ERA (3.97 ERA), (.279/.331/.410):(.353/.400/.569) Analysis: Before going down for the season, Tikal made 2 starts in August. She didn't pitch particularly well, as she gave up 10 runs in those 2 games, but to be fair, 5 were unearned. Verdict: C Rank Wave the Swallow: 7-9 (2-3), 134.0 IP (33.2 IP), 23 GS (6 GS), 154 H (41 H), 84 R (23 R), 76 ER (22 ER), 44 BB (9 BB), 71 K (11 K), 1.61 K/BB (1.22 K/BB), 10 QS (43.5%), 21 HR (8 HR), 265 TB (74 TB), 596 PA (149 PA), 5.10 ERA (5.88 ERA), (.288/.354/.490):(.304/.362/.548) Analysis: Wave struggled in the month of August. She had one particularly awful start against the Pirates, in which she gave up 8 runs in 3 innings, including 4 home runs. Her 2.14 HR/9 was particularly bad. Verdict: E Rank Emerl: 3-2 (2-1) 51.1 IP (33.1), 9 GS (6 GS), 39 H (27 H), 27 R (20 R), 23 ER (16 ER), 19 BB (11 BB), 45 K (32 K), 2.36 K/BB (2.91 K/BB), 6 QS (66.7%), 4 HR (3 HR), 68 TB (48 TB), 216 PA (142 PA), 4.03 ERA (4.32 ERA), (.205/.294/.350)(.213/.296/.378) Analysis: Emerl got off to a rough start to August, with 15 runs (11 earned) in 6.2 innings in his first two starts (14.84 ERA). He was absolutely lights out after that though, allowing just 5 runs in his next 4 starts for an ERA of 1.69. His 8.64 K/9 led the teams' starters. Verdict: A Rank Marine the Raccoon: 0-2, 14.1 IP, 3 GS, 18 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 8 BB, 6 K, 0.75 K/BB, 0 QS (0%), 1 HR, 25 TB, 66 PA, 4.40 ERA, (.333/.429/.460)Analysis: Called up as the last missing piece to the Sonics' rotation, Marine had her struggles with command, with a high walk rate (5.02 BB/9). She did show a nice ability to keep the ball in the park (0.63 HR/9), and get out of jams.Verdict: C Rank |

He also managed to walk more than he struck out.Verdict: S Rank SS- Sonic the Hedgehog- 492 AB (120 AB), 143 H (40 H), 22 2B (8 2B), 4 3B (1 3B), 18 HR (6 HR), 72 RBI (25 RBI), 77 R (18 R), 104 K (26 K), 46 BB (9 BB), 227 TB (68 TB), 552 TPA (133 TPA), (.291/.360/.461):(.333/.394/.567) Analysis: Sonic showed everyone why he is the team's namesake and mascot, as he was unquestionably the team's top hitter in August. After a mostly anemic July, this August was a big boost for the Sonics' 2nd base production.Verdict: A Rank |

Wesson- A Closer Look Wesson was released by the Sonics before the season began to make room for their incoming players. He caught on with the Brewers, pitching in Triple-A, but never breaking the bigs with them. He then got offered back to the Sonics at the deadline in exchange for Wayne. Due to being in better condition than Scobie, one of the Sonics’ starters at the time, the Sonics accepted and added Wesson to the rotation. However, he struggled badly on the mound for the most part, and eventually the team shut him down to give Saipe a shot. Amy Rose- A closer look Summary: Amy spent most of the season penciled in the lead off spot in the batting order, due to her excellent contact skills and speed. She got off to a slow start, but a 5-hit game against the Mets in late April kept her bat hot for the rest of the season. She was able to get on base at a high clip (.367), and used her speed to swipe 33 bases on 42 attempts (78.6%). This gave several RBI opportunities for the big bats in the middle of the order. She did have a major weakness however in her durability. She was limited to 97 games due to various injuries caused by her injury-proneness and penchant for head-first slides. Monthly Batting: April- .280/.365/.293, .658 OPS, 0 home runs, 4 RBIs, 18 runs May- .348/.394/.394, .788 OPS, 0 home runs, 5 RBIs, 10 runs June- .310/.339/.414, .753 OPS, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs, 14 runs July- .322/.369/.407, .776 OPS, 0 home runs, 3 RBIs, 15 runs August- .290/.333/.323, .656 OPS, 0 home runs, 0 RBIs, 2 runs September- .440/.462/.480, .942 OPS, 0 home runs, 2 RBIs, 5 runs Full Season Stats- 408 PA, 372 AB, 64 R, 119 H, 13 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 24 RBI, 21 BB, 55 K, .320/.367/.382, .749 OPS Advanced Stats- 5.2 BB%, 13.5 K%, .062 ISO, .371 BABIP, 1.34 GO/AO |
