Yeah on Backyard Baseball 2005 Abner Doubleplay (the announcer) would always make comments on how Willis can hit.

Interestingly though (don't ask how I remember this), Eric Gagne and Pedro Martinez both have better batting abilities.

I remember hitting a few home runs with Eric Gagne and Pedro Martinez. Probably because I never picked Willis. He is also in 2007 and he's a good hitter there.

So do Micah Owings and Zambrano.

Though I think the best batter of them all is Free Agent Enrique Gonzalez.

Tim Stauffer is a better position player than he is a pitcher, so I like to snag him off FA and convert him to a corner outfielder in Spring Training.

Yeah I always got Gagne and he made a pretty solid 2 or 7 hitter (depending if you're using created players or pros). 5 power, 7 contact. 5 or 6 run speed keeps him from getting thrown out at first on hits to the outfield.

REDS (21-30) at PIRATES
The Reds game today was not unlike most other games this season. Cueto gave up 5 runs in the first three innings. Ian Snell gave up a HR to Renteria in the 3rd. He did pretty well until Fred Lewis cracked a 3-run shot in the 6th, knocking him out of the game. The game was tied, 7 to 7 in extras, until Joey Bats's 12th inning solo shot, which blew the game wide open.

PIRATES: 8
REDS: 7

WP: Capps
LP: Bray
HR: Renteria (4)
Lewis (3)
Bruce (6)
Bautista (6)

MVP: Bautista (winning run on solo HR in 12th.)

REDS (24-39) MARLINS (26-35)
The Reds really took the lead from the get go. Jay Bruce hit a homer in the top of the 2nd, and scored another run in the 3rd to make it 2 to 1. Then, in the 5th, some small ball, and a Cueto scored 2 more. Cueto pitched a solid six innings, giving up one run. Josh Johnson pitched for 8 innings and gave up 4.

WP: Cueto 4-3
SV: Bray 2
LP: Johnson 0-2
HR: Bruce (7) Hermida (8)

MVP: Cueto (WP)

Notice: later today is special draft coverage and team report and stats. Be there!

Bruce cannot wait to haze the rookies.

Paul agrees and says "Yes there will definitely be some hazing!"
