Then why wouldn't he be allowed?

Can I drop Clontz for Menchaca?

All of the expansion pitchers look good until they get a chance to play... Then their stats are awful.

And I suppose I can switch agents in this case. I am going to announce a rule starting next season that you can only drop an agent when they aren't an important player in the lineup (starting pitchers, closers, starting fielders), but this season is almost over and I doubt Clontz is going to be keeping the closer role next year with how he's been doing...

See above quote from page 5 (?).

I might change that rule after this season as the agents aren't really highly in demand these days. I don't like to change things midseason. I might make it so the rule is just that you can't switch agents more than 3 or 4 times in the middle of a season, that's not very restrictive, I just don't want someone changing their agents every other update or something like that. I might even let anyone who wants to take 3 agents, since there are a lot of players available and nobody new is likely to show up and want any.

As for now, I think it's stuck as is. I don't want to trade Reynolds because I like his fielding at his position and his clutch hit ability. Also, if I did trade him, I wouldn't be able to get anything back of similar talent because nobody likes to accept those players in trades.

The Venom have received a trade offer from the Padres, but rejected it almost immediately.

Padres offer:
T.Clark - 1B

Padres would get:
Rivas - 2B

This was an easy decision for the general manager, as this trade would leave them without a good second baseman, and take away speed from the lineup, as well as the glove from the field and his ability to hit lefties really well. Clark wouldn't even be good enough to be the starting first baseman in Nashville, he has good fielding, but only plays a position in which fielding ability isn't all too important.

July 5th:

Nashville Venom (40-46) at San Francisco Giants (46-40)

The final interleague game of the Venom's season went in favor of the Venom in a tense, tightly defended pitcher's duel. Aurilia would drive in Rowand for the Giants first run in the first inning, but the Venom pitching shut down the game from there on, despite getting into a few jams. Roma, with the bases loaded and 1 out, down by 1 run, after hitting into a double play in his previous at-bat, looked like he was going to blow it for his team as he hit another grounder, but had the hustle to just barely make it into first with the game tying RBI groundout, this gave Stults the chance to drive in the go-ahead run with a hit, making it 2-1 Venom.

Tremie's relief pitching dominated the middle innings, coming in with a runner on second and nobody out, he stopped the runner from scoring and shut down the Giants for all 3 of his innings, he even contribute with a hit when it was his turn to bat. With a 2-1 lead in the 9th, Tremie was taken out for Benoit who got in trouble, allowing a runner to reach second, but ultimately converted the tight save, giving the Venom their first win in several games.

Venom: 2
Giants: 1

Win: Tremie (6-0)
Save: Benoit (17)
Loss: A.Reyes (4-4)

Venom Box Score:

Stewart: 1-5, R
Grindell: 2-4, R
Butron: 2-4
Roma: 0-4, RBI
Stults: 1-4, RBI
Reynolds: 1-4
Rivas: 2-4, K
Ormond: 1-4
Reid: 0-2, K
Tremie: 1-1
Deardorff: 1-1

Reid: 5 innings pitched, 10 hits, 1 run, 0 strikeouts
Tremie: 3 innings pitched, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts, win
Benoit: 1 inning pitched, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts, save

(Finally, I knew I had to win a game eventually, but it is tough with a lack of good hitters. I can't wait to bring in Aaron next season.)

Yeah, if I bring him in and I still have trouble scoring more than 1 or 2 runs a game on a regular basis, I may change the difficulty slightly. At the moment I think the difficulty is fine, I'm losing a lot with a team that's supposed to be fairly bad, so it seems accurate. Of course one player shouldn't completely turn the team around, but with a Superstar, I expect it to help a lot.

---

At the All-Star break, the Venom are considering a trade offer from the Padres.

Padres get:
Menchaca: P, 94 speed, E 116 control, C 107 stamina, level 3 slider, level 3 curveball (550 salary)

Venom get:
J.Castro: SS, 2 trajectory, F 5 contact, F 72 power, E 6 run speed, D 8 arm strength, B 12 fielding, D 9 error resistance (400 salary)
Meredith: P, 90 speed, B 170 control, E 40 stamina, level 3 sinking fastball, level 4 changeup, level 4 slider (400 salary)
Thatcher: P, 93 peed, C 139 control, E 40 stamina, level 2 slider, level 2 changeup, level 2 sinking fastball (480 salary)

Should I take this trade? Menchaca was really never even a part of the team, getting a chance last year because of injury and didn't prove to be worth using at all, so he's been in the minors and will likely only see time in Septembers.

What should I do with the players as well? Meredith could replace someone for a relief spot because of his control, but who, and which situations should they take? The other players I'm not sure of a role at all. Castro has around the same defense as Reynolds but basically no bat, and I don't know about Thatcher. Should I take it and drop those 2 off somewhere for a small amount of points to save salary space?

I think I'd take that trade if I were you. Meredith and Thatcher would help out a lot out of the bullpen.

The roster is already always full, so there's no room without sending people down, and there's nobody to send down that does much worse than either of them.

If you're gonna say no, then why'd you ask us?

Personally, I think you should accept it

I'm not saying no, I'm asking for reasoning and logic behind opinions. If it's just a straight response I might as well ask an 8 ball or my dog. No offense to anyone.

I think if I do accept it, one of my starters is going to be gone, based on recent stats, probably McNichol, and I'll move Tremie over to starter to see if he can continue his success this season in a more significant role. Overall I suppose there's no risk to the trade except a few points here and there in salary, maybe. If it doesn't work out I can sell off the players for small amounts of points here and there and all that would come of it is losing a minor leaguer that probably wouldn't have any success here anyway.

Overall, I'm pretty sure I will accept when I get on tomorrow. The trade is really just a small increase in salary that makes little difference in the long run. I think in the future when trades concerning minor leaguers come up I'll just make the decision right there, since they aren't really a big deal. I'll save gathering opinions for bigger trades that I might actually consider taking (for example, not the ones I regularly get that ask for my cleanup hitter in exchange for somebody with no talent anywhere and a higher salary).

Take it and trade Thatcher/Castro for points.

Trade accepted, the Venom now have Meredith, Castro and Thatcher, giving up a minor leaguer in Antonio Menchaca. Menchaca has had some experience in the MLB and has some decent pitches, but hasn't proven himself good enough to earn a spot even on the weak Venom team. The GM of the Venom will likely be making some additional trades after accepting this, as they gain salary here for players they don't really have room here.

The latest Venom trade sees an immediate roster change during the All-Star break. They have immediately sent down the worst of their struggling starters, Pedro McNichol. To bring up Cla Meredith. Meredith will be used as a bullpen arm and will hopefully bring down his season ERA of 6.54 in his time with the Venom as a secondary set-up man. Meanwhile, the dominant reliever Anakoni Tremie will be taking over the gap in the starting rotation previously occupied by McNichol. If Tremie is even half as good pitching as a starter as he has been in relief, with a 1.36 ERA, this move should be considered a good one.

Just started following. Enjoying it. I feel as though it would have been a good trade considering you would have only inherited 800 more points to the payroll and a young team may need some depth to take the stress off.
