August 15 Mailbag

There is only one question this week but remember that you can send them whenever you want

What do you think is the cause for the amazing win streak of the Eagles?
-Apple4960

This was sent a few days ago and like I mentioned in my last mailbag, it had to do with Alcheves heating up. He was the player of the week by batting .480 which was the start of the 12 game win streak. Also Brady had a strong week and Jacobs was still a good threat in the lineup, he has 17 homers and is batting .289 since coming here. But also I think we got our offense on good track when we played in Texas in a series with the rangers that week, we always get going when we play, and beat, the Rangers in Arlington's Ballpark

Jacobs is the first ever eagle with 30 homers and garcia is the first ever eagle with 100 rbis, But 10 of those were with KC

Its September 1st, 70-64, 1 Ahead of Anaheim(and garcia didn't win rookie of the month, Smokes pitcher, Ashby did :( ) If I fall behind in the west then I'd be 5 behind the red sox.
The Mariners and Rangers are both only 4 games behind me and oakland still alive by being 8 behind

Notable Games:

September 15-17th, Angels
September 22-24, Mariners
September 28-30, Mariners, Final Series of the season

Call-ups:

C/1B- Solano, Hammock
OF-Riley(D contact E power, could be useful)
1B-Oliver(D contact E power, also could be useful)
SS- Cannon
P-Lunar,Wayne,Deluchhi

Mailbag-August 22

heres the question we got today, no mailbag again till December

rate the teams that might go into the playoffs, and your odds of beating them.
-stevenjackson

As this is being written, we were just swept by the Angels and are on a 9 game losing streak, yet only 3 behind and Garcia just tied it against seattle with a 2 run shot in the 9th, game still in the 9th and we just won it in the 12th to keep our hopes alive as the angels lost! But now to the question...The red sox, yankees and white sox appear headed to the playoffs for the AL, Its still puzzling in the AL with colorado and arizona are tied in the west, the mets have a 5 game lead in the east, and the cubs are only 2 ahead of the reds. The AL opponents are more important so lets start with them. The red sox are not having a great season when it comes to stats as everyone except varitek is batting over .300, as for pitching, becketts rebounded and so theyre good but I'd say the odds would be for us in a 5 or 7 game series because the rotation go downwards after beckett and lester. The white sox had the best record for awhile and had it slip away, we had a 5-3 record against them including a sweep, they have a good lineup and a solid rotation in vazquez, buehrle, who led the league in ERA, and john danks. White sox have the better odds. The Yankees have destroyed us when it comes to their offense of giambi, posada, a-rod, nady and matsui(whom lead the league in AVG). Odds to yanks, The angels is mixed against us, they had a 6-5 record against us and we dominated them til this month, they would have the better odds against us

Well I got it back and I just won 2 against detroit, the last game thouhg for that series was like wow. Down by one and 2 outs in the 9th, alcheves and prado hit singles and with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs, brady swung 3-0 and hit a grounder for a basehit(It was scary cause it was near the 1st basemen and 2nd) then garcia hit a 2 run double and jacobs hit one 2 and it was a 10-7 win. And the Angels lost to Oakland that day too so I'm one game behind with 3 to play.

Angels to play at Boston for 3 games
I play at home for 3 games agains the Mariners

I Believe!

Ok now for the final regular season game

Last nite, I won 3-1 over Seattle and LA lost so we're tied for first with this being the final game. Jacobs has hit 4 homers over the last 2 days and the pitching did well last nite behind carlyle.

September 30- Seattle Mariners(76-85) @ Hawaii Eagles(83-78)
Starters- R.A Dickey(4-8, 7.30 ERA) Vs McDaniel(12-10, 3.60 ERA)
FINAL SCORE: EAGLES OVER MARINERS 5-1
In the first it started with a homer for burrell and after that, McDaniel let up no runs in a complete game. Sparks, getting the start today for the second time this series, hit a bases clearing triple and was driven in on a sac fly,and despite only 2 starts this series, sparks drove in 5 runs in the games he played. In the next inning, Jacobs hit a homer, which was his 5th this series and 11th in september. The game ended with a Jackson to Prado to Quentin double play and since the Angels lost, they began to celebrate their miracle season and an AL West berth. And in the end, with some key hits, and some help with the redsox beating the Angels, the improbable season has added another chapter to itquoted by that rays broadcaster after the rays won the ALCS

W- McDaniel ( 13-10 )
L- Dickey (4-9)
HR- Burell(31), Jacobs(43)

Some suffered in their Sophmore year while others shined.
Quentin enjoyed a good season, brady added on to last years stats, Garcia had a ROTY type of season and almost an MVP type-season.
Jackson, Alcheves, and Griffiths enjoyed fine seasons, but did not perform like last year at all but still good years for them. And of course, you cannot forget the amazing season he had with the Eagles coming over from the Royals, he was the lighter in the offense in the middle of the order than relied so much on Brady and Garcia because of the struggles of Alcheves and Jackson

Nixon revived himself by having a solid season, Zadan had another good season while McDaniel performed like an ace. Carlyle was a greay mid-season pick-up from the Braves as he had a 6-1 records(He was actually 4-7 when he came to the Eagles, not 5-5)
