I actually might now that I think about it. I have a total rebuilding project that I would do first. Maybe I could do both.

It would be real gritty. Chambers would have an eye patch and would pretty much be Jeff Bridges from True Grit. Alex Wilson would be a total bad boy kinda like Jesse Pinkman. Also Chambers' son would be running the bat company so that he could use the bats to murder people. :lol:

So Brewers, you want some trade help? I'll offer you some:
C- Yadier Molina- Don't trade him
1B- Albert Pujols- Don't trade him
2B- Aaron Miles- Easily replaceable, someone like Howie Kendrik should do.
3B- Troy Glaus- Trade him straight up for a younger, better third baseman.
SS- Cesar Isturis- Trade him for a young player, possibly a draft pick or Brendan Harris.
LF- Chris Duncan- Don't trade him
CF- Brian Barton- Replace him with a veteran presence, like Jim Edmonds or Mike Cameron.
RF- Juan Encarnacion- He should be fine here, don't trade him

Too late, sorry PP27. :( although I did have 2 trades accepted before the deadline, I can't post updates until Sunday when I get home from my brother's house.

BREAKING NEWS
July 29th, 2008- The Cardinals have reached their 2nd trade agreement of the year, this time acquiring a 2nd baseman from the Rays.

Cardinals get;
2B Akinori Iwamura(.349, 10 HR's)
1600 points

Rays get;
Aaron Miles(.262, 4 HR's)

The Cardinals have acquired second baseman Akinori Iwamura and some cash from the Rays in exchange for Aaron Miles. This should be a huge upgrade for the Cardinals, as Iwamura has been a much better batter this season than Miles. Although Iwamura has a higher salary, he is also younger and has obviously been batting nearly .350 this year. He will step in immediately and bat lead-off. The Rays must think Iwamura is having a fluke year, and Miles the same, or else we can't figure out why they would want to swap the two. Oh well, for now, it looks like the Cardinals made out with the better end of the deal here.

Also, with the new acquisition, the Cards have switched up their batting order.

1. Iwamura 2B
2. C.Izturis SS
3. Pujols 1B
4. Glaus 3B
5. Duncan LF
6. Barton CF
7. J.Encarnacion RF
8. Y.Molina C
PITCHER

St.Louis Cardinals(59-51) @ Atlanta Braves(69-38)
July 30th, 2008- The Cardinals have indeed picked up their play for July, and took out one of the best teams in baseball, the Braves in Atlanta. St.Louis jumped on the Braves early, loading the bases with 3 singles by the first 3 batters. Glaus nearly hit a Grand Slam next, smashing one deep to center, off the wall for a 2 RBI double. In the 3rd, Brian Barton came through from his new spot in the order, hitting a double right up the alley in left center, scoring Glaus and Pujols making it 4-0. Encarnacion hit another double after him, making it 5-0. Molina knocked in another in the 5th, with a single, and then starting pitcher Zach Duke knocked in 2 with a 2 RBI double! Mark Teixeira scored the only run for the Braves with a solo homer in the 6th. There was no scoring in the final 3 innings, and the Cards would win 8-1. Akinori Iwamura impressed in his debut, going 3-5. Also, rumor has it the Cardinals are in discussion for another trade before deadline. We'll have to see if they can complete the deal in time!

BREAKING NEWS
July 31st, 2008- St.Louis acquired reliever Eric O'Flaherty from the Mariners in a last-minute trade.

Cardinals get;
RP Eric O'Flaherty(2.50 ERA)
1500 points

Mariners get;
SP Braden Looper(Played in AAA)

The Cardinals bolstered their bullpen, getting O'Flaherty from the Mariners, for AAA pitcher Braden Looper. GM BrewersFuzz said that O'Flaherty will be put straight to set-up man, replacing Franklin, who's ERA was above 5.00. Franklin was dropped to middle relief, and Tyler Johnson was demoted to AAA. The Cardinals were very aggressive this year trade-wise, and it looks as if they are trying to fix some of the holes in their roster to make a playoff push. With 2 months to go, let's see how these trades work out!

-----------------------------------------------------

AT BRAVES
7/31: W, 6-1

Cardinals record: 60-51

St.Louis Cardinals July Review
August 1st, 2008- The Cardinals surged in July, after struggling through June. They went 19-8 on the month, and jumped into 1st place. The standings are as follows;

Cardinals- 60-51; ...
Astros- 57-50; 1 GB
Brewers- 54-55; 5 GB
Reds- 54-56; 5.5 GB
Pirates- 52-57; 7 GB
Cubs- 46-63; 13 GB

The Red Birds separated themselves from the pack a little, but the Astros were able to keep up, and are currently sitting 1 game back. The Cards also completed 2 trades in July, getting 2B Iwamura and RP Eric O'Flaherty. Iwamura has been a huge plus at the leadoff spot, but O'Flahterty hasn't played a game with us yet.

Jason Isringhausen won relief pitcher of the month, recording 8 saves and posting a 0.93 ERA with 8 K's. On the year, he still leads the majors, with 27/27 saves. The closest in the majors is Billy Wagner, who trails by 6 with 21 saves.

The team average has greatly increased(mainly due to Iwamura), up to .274, which is up to 3rd in the division. If you can recall, we were last in batting average last month. A team ERA of 4.19 is not only best in the division, but also best in the NL! It's also good for 2nd in the majors, behind only the Rays who have a 4.14 team ERA.

For individual stats, Anthony Reyes is 2nd in the NL in ERA, at 2.97. Duke is in 3rd, with a 3.05 ERA, and Carpenter is down to 4th with a 3.18. Duke is also 3rd in wins, with a record of 12-4.

Akinori Iwamura leads the majors in hits, with 144, and his batting .345. Pujols has also been hot, hitting .331. He also has 25 homers, followed by Glaus with 23, and Duncan with 22, as the team's top 3 in dingers. Glaus also leads the team in RBI's, with 94.

And now, there are only 2 months left in the regular season. Let's hope the Cards can remain in 1st throughout that time, and nab that playoff spot. Here's to a more consistent, better August!

St.Louis Cardinals(66-57) @ Florida Marlins(58-64)
August 13th, 2008- The Cardinals suffered a beating at the hands of the Marlins, being blown out on the road. The game didn't start off badly though, and the Red Birds scored the first run in the 4th. Chris Duncan hit a grounder up the middle, and Marlins CF Alfredo Amezaga misplayed it, allowing Duncan to scamper to 3rd and collect an RBI on the error. The Marlins took the lead in the bottom of the 4th though, with RBI singles by Wes Helms and Luis Gonzalez making it 1-2. Pujols hit a solo homer in the 6th and tied it. But then the gates broke loose, as the Marlins got 7 runs in the 7th. Hanley Ramirez hit a 2 RBI triple, and Gonzalez tacked on another RBI single. A 3 run homer by Hermida made it 2-8, and Helms made it back-to-back with a solo homer after that, making it 2-9. In the 8th Ramirez knocked in another run with another triple, and the blowout stopped there.
