Cueto Optioned

Washington -- After the game, Johnny Cueto was optioned to AAA Harrisburgh, and John Lannan was activated from the DL to take his rotation spot. Matt Chico will stay on the MLB squad. Ryan Wagner was also injured in the game and will be placed on the 15-day DL. Hopefully this won't hurt his stellar season. Chris Schroeder has been called up to take the long reliever role.

The Nationals also accepted a trade request proposed by the Oakland Athletics that sent 1B Daric Barton (2FDFEFD) to Washington for SP Tim Redding (93 DB 12SFB 1SLD 2SLV 2CHG). Shawn Hill has been called up to the MLB to be spotted in the rotation.

Nationals acquire stud starter

Washington -- July 27th, 2008, the Washington Nationals received a trade offer from the Cleveland Indians. The Indians send starter Cliff Lee (92 DB 4CUT 2DCB 2CHG) to the Nationals for C Johnny Estrada (2CDFDDB). While this leaves a huge hole at catcher for the Nationals, it is great for their weak starting rotation. Expect the Nationals to go after some catchers at this last week of the trade deadline.

They proposed it. So I though I'd accept it. We're gonna have to acquire a catcher in the offseason though.

So this leaves a huge hole at catcher for the Indians. Yet they got Johnny Estrada.
