The Scranton Warriors are 25 games into the season, and they have recently hit a rough patch, losing 4 straight to the Jacksonville Lions and Charlotte Knights. The Warriors are currently second in the NL East, 1 game behind the Foxborough Lobsters. The Warriors were hit hard by the injury bug early in the season as starting pitchers Tom Gorzelanny and Junior Livings both went down with elbow pains. Both of these pitchers had under a 1.50 ERA to start their season. A big factor for their recent struggles is the lack of offense that has suddenly plagued the team, over the past 4 games, they are only averaging 2.25 runs per game. Hopefully the Warriors can get back on track, if not, it looks like the Lobsters could run away with the division.

NL EAST STANDINGS
Team Name WINS LOSSES GB
1.Lobsters 17-8
2.Warriors 16-9 1.0
3.Hornets 13-12 4.0
4.Eskimos 11-14 6.0
5.Knights 10-15 7.0

R H E
Warriors 6 13 0
Lions 5 10 0 F/13

The Warriors came into this game looking to just salvage one game from the series as they had been killed in the first 3 games and this was easily the most exciting game so far this season, as the Warriors came storming back from a 5-1 deficit to win 6-5 with a walk off HR by Greene. Jim Oilhands got the start today and he pitched decent giving up 3 runs in 6 IP while throwing 67 pitches.( 35 4SFB, 18 Curveballs, 7 SIFB, 4 CHG, and 3 Mistake) But the hero of the day was Greene, who has been struggling all season, and came into this game hitting just .180 but got a pitch over the plate and sent it packing over the left field wall for the win. The bullpen also came up big today with Rocket, Hochevar, and Bowie pitching 5 innings of shutout baseball. This win is a huge confidence boost for the Warriors and hopefully this is just what they needed to get back in the groove of things.

R H E
Warriors 2 11 0
Knights 1 9 1

The Warriors got a much needed win today, coming off a tough 8-3 loss to the Knights. Junior Livings got his first start after coming off the DL yesterday and pitched pretty good given the circumstances, he pitched just 5 innings and threw just 57 pitches while giving up 7 hits and 1 ER and striking out 4. Deafface continued to struggle, going 0-4 from the plate but did manage to drive in a run. The game was tied 1-1 for a long time until Ryan Howard knocked in a run in the bottom of the 8th to score the go ahead run. Tensions were high after the game as Knights OF Brad Hawpe turned to social media after the game to vent his frustration after a tough loss. "Man I hate the Warriors, they think they're so good but they can't stop me, I'm hitting like .600 this year against their so called "great" pitching staff." said Hawpe. The League Commissioner was not pleased with Hawpe's actions and quickly issued a 10,000 dollar fine for Hawpe, who after hearing of this news made matters worse by using social media to call out the League Commissioner by saying "10,000 dollars? thats chump change to me bro." The League Commissioner, who obviously felt like his authority was being challenged issued another fine, this time for 50,000 dollars. Hawpe(probably realizing he better stop while he still has a job) then quickly terminated multiple social media accounts. Definitely a string of events you don't see very often.

Key Batters
Ruiz- 3-4, 2 Runs Scored
Gurch- 3-4
Deafface- 0-4, 1 RBI
Howard- 2-4, 1 RBI

Pitchers
Livings- 5 IP, 7 H, 4 SO, 1 ER
Hochevar- 2 IP, 1 H, 1 SO
Sain- 2 IP, 1 H, 1 SO WIN(3-1)

Jim Oilhands won April's pitcher of the month award, he went 4-0 in the month of April with an unbelieveable 0.99 ERA while striking out 26 batters. Jim Oilhands, who was the focus of many trade rumors last year due to poor play said "This is a very important award for me considering where I was last season, I knew this year was my year to prove the nah sayers wrong and so far thats what im doing"

Steve Screws got the start in this game and did what he has done for most the season, sucked. The Warriors then gave the ball to Scott Proctor to protect the tie and send it into extras, Proctor threw one pitch to Jason Giambi who hit it deep over the center field wall to win the game. Proctor is now 0-2 on the season.

Durvisuski pitched his second complete game of the year in a hard fought 3-1 win
over division rival Charlotte. Tension has recently heated up in the rivalry due
to Brad Hawpe of the Knights trash talking, well today was no different, in the
4th inning Hawpe had a borderline strike 3 called on him and he was not happy and
let everyone know it after the game, saying "These Umps couldn't do a peewee game
and they're out here at the highest level doing it. It's BS and the only way the
Warriors can win is if they pay these idiots to give them all the calls." Fines
are sure to follow after an outburst after that, After the game the Scranton
Times was able to catch up to Durvisuski who had this to say after his outing,
"This year I've just been feeling it and today was no exception, I was hitting my
spots and I had a good feel on all of my pitches." He threw just 76 pitches(51
4SFB, 19 CCHG, 1 SLD, and 5 Mistake) while striking out 10.

The Warriors bats finally came to life and exploded for 9 runs, and it all
started when starting pitcher Jim Oilhands hit his first home run of the year
over the left field fence, Oilhands said "That really help give me the confidence
that I needed to go out there and get the win." The Warriors followed the next
inning by scoring 3 runs off of 4 hits. In the 5th inning Oilhands hit a skid and
ending up giving up 2 runs to make the score 4-2 through 5, But it wouldn't stay
like that for long as Gurch capped off a 4 run 6th with a 3 run home run to left
center field, his 1st on the year. Ryan Howard also had a big game, hitting his
19th and 20th Home runs on the season. The Warriors extend their win streak to 8 games and look to stay hot when they face the Knights one more time tomorrow, looking for the series sweep.

The Scranton Times

Big news came from The Scranton Warriors today as the GM has announced that he will be making some line up changes to the team thats already in 1st place. Rick Ankiel, currently the starting right fielder for the Warriors will be replaced by Xavier Nady who has exploded onto the scene for this team lately, hitting .316 with 4 home runs and 7 runs batted in, in just 38 at bats. Ankiel was batting .262 in 126 at bats with 2 HR's and 5 RBIS. The Warriors GM had this to say about the move. "We really like both of these guys but it comes down to production and what the team needs and at this time I think Nady at right is what this team needs." He also said he still expects Ankiel to get adequate playing time, but also didn't rule out a possible trade to send Ankiel elsewhere. The Warriors currently have a salary of 59760 P, which is one of the highest in the league, and rumor has it that the owner of team has purchased a lot of new practice equipment, so a lot of moves could be coming to cut down on expenses.

The Warriors must have saved all of their offense for the last game of this series as they were able to get 6 runs in the first inning, knocking out Whales pitcher Cole Hamels after just pitching 0 2/3 innings. The Warriors manager tried to send a message to Deafface by moving him from 3rd in the line up down to the number 7 spot and boy did he get the message, going 4-4 with a home run. The Warriors dominated this game and hopefully they will use this momentum to win their next series.

Rough series except for the last game.

Is that Khalil Greene you have at shortstop?

The Warriors were able to withstand a combined 29 hits for the reapers to win the series 2-1. In game one Ryan Howard came up big, hitting a 2 run shot in the 6th to break the 1-1 tie to give Gorzelanny the win. In game two of the series the Warriors gave a lot of their starters the day off, and it looked like they were going to get shut out for the 3rd time in 5 games until Gurch hit a blast to deep center field to take the lead 2-1, but the lead would not stand as Patrick Star gave up 2 runs which is highly uncharacteristic of him and earned his first loss of the year. In game three Ryan Howard came up big again, this time in the 9th inning hitting another 2 run bomb to win the game, Rocket came on in the bottom of the 9th and earned his 2nd save of the series, 15th on the year.

PLAYER OF THE SERIES: Ryan Howard: 3-9, 2 HR, 4 RBIs, 2 Runs, 1 SO

SERIES NOTES: Greene continues to struggle, batting just 2-11 in the series with one strike out, The Warriors owner has offically stated that they are looking around for a possible trade for Greene but will give him the next series to turn things around before making any moves.
