Future Rev Davis (to All): Heard you guys needed money. How 'bout this. Every time you get a win, you guys get say 5,000 dollars. And for sponsors, try hooking up with the Sun Drop soda company (not popular in 2009).

Paul decides to hold a press conference, saying:

Paul: "I'm tired of all this talk about my contract. I'd like to focus on baseball for now, so I can do better and earn that larger contract. As for the rumours about me wanting to leave this team, those are false. I've built a great relationship with this team, and to leave a team with a championship already under their belt and an extremely bright future would be foolish on my part. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go work out with the team. This conference is over."

Azul is starting a foundation for the ankletically challenged this year. He is hoping the rest of the team will back him up on this. Excerpt from his press conference on the matter:

Azul: "...Well yes, my condition did play a major part in my decision to found this organization. It hit me one day that I should reach out to others in the same position as I am. I'm just here to give underprivileged kids with Cryptomythologic Hulking Anklet Syndrome (CHAS) a chance for hope. After all, what child with an abnormal external mass around their ankle wouldn't admire and respect a mediocre big-league starter like me, who has gone through everything they have. It gives them a hope for something better, that someday they just might be able to attain all that I have..."

We'll tune out there. The interview will rerun tonight at 12:30am ET on the Stranglers News Network.

Switcheroo!

Over Spring Training, John and Chris switched positions. Chris will now be the starting CF and John will be the starting 3B.

Chris Kennedy was a defensive liability at third so I'm putting him at his first position, center. Lennon I converted to third. Lennon is a great fielder. Now that I typed it up, it sounds stupid considering Lennon was a gold glover last year.

Team Scouting Report 2009

The Stranglers are pretty much the same this year. They have a powerful offense with a great front end of the rotation. The 3, 4, and 5 starters were Jekkyl and Hyde for them last year. Their bullpen looks great on paper, but really didn't perform well this year. The top three batters, Sanchez, Starr, and Kennedy, are the perfect combination of speed, hitting, and Kennedy being a five tool player. The heart of the order is Ryan Howard, Mick Jagger, and John Lennon. Howard hit 58 homers last season, easily leading the league. Jagger had great power and horrible average in the first half of the year, but horrible power and great average in the second half. Same goes for Lennon. Hopefully those two can pick it up and put two halves together this year. Most teams would kill to have their bottom of the order consist of Keith Richards and George Harrison. Keith was consistently powerful the whole year, but did not hit well for average. Harrison was an All Star, but could not get a ball over the fence in the second half. This team was pretty inconsistent last year, but they will certainly pick it up.

Team Grade: B

Key Games Early On

The Stranglers open up with a three game series in Atlanta against the Braves. In April they only play four different teams, the Braves, the Dodgers, the Mets, and the Marlins. THey visit the White House on April 16th to celebrate their world championship. The Stranglers will square off against the Cardinals for the first time on June fifth.

Looks like the only one who can stop them this year will be the Mets. I say this because the Yankees had a few key losses and are getting old. Here's to another pennant.

Dennis O'Bell

All Star Update

Miss Kate: Hello Scrantonians! It's almost time for the mid-summer classic and we're here to update you on all things Stranglers.

Jack Swaggert: First, the lineups of the NL and AL teams.

1.) Pablo Sanchez Scranton Stranglers Shortstop
2.) Ringo Starr Scranton Stranglers 2B
3.) Chris Kennedy Scranton Stranglers CF
4.) Ryan Howard Scranton Stranglers 1B
5.) David Wright NYM 3B
6.) Alfonso Soriano Chi RF
7.) Adam Dunn Cin LF
8.) Yorvit Torrealba Col C
9.) Paul McCartney Scranton Stranglers P

Other Stranglers on the All Star team include: Mick Jagger, Yu Darvish, Charlie Brown, and Brian Wilson

Miss Kate: The Stranglers record at the break is an amazing 65-34 two games ahead of the Yankees for the top of the MLB. We now got to Harry Jones and Dennis O' Bell for a live report at Busch Stadium.

Dennis: Well, Miss Kate, despite Starr being injured and listed as day-to-day in the middle of the Phillies series, Starr will play in the game. Also, Kennedy still has that two homer edge o er Ryan Howard in the home-run race at 32 home runs in the first half of the season.

Harry: Howard is however beating Kennedy in the batting average race where Ryan is atop the NL with a .367 average. That is the only triple crown categorie that Kennedy doesn't lead. As for pitching stats, Paul McCartney and Yu Darvish are pretty much even while Charlie Brown is right behind them. McCartney is 8-4 with a 3.33 ERA and 125 K's. yu is 8-2 with a 3.24 ERA and 127 K's. Charlie Brown is 7-3 with a 3.06 ERA and 104 K's.

Jack Swaggert: Thanks Harry. Now to look ahead to the second half of the season the Stranglers have a pretty safe nine game lead over the Mets who struggled at first, but are slowly climbing back up, they have an eleven game lead over the Marlins, a twelve game lead over the Braves, and a 22 game lead over the cellar-dwellar Phillies.

Miss Kate: That's it for now join us again after the All-Star game. Have fun watching the Mid-Summer Classic!
