Sacramento Slayers 5 - Phoenix Cobras 3

SUMMARY: The Slayers keep rolling along, winning a 16-inning thriller against the Cobras. The scoring started in the top of the 5th, with a solo homer by Kurt Suzuki. In the same inning, Jose Bautista singled home 2 runs to make it 3-0 Slayers. The Cobras would fight back, though, with a 2-run shot by shortstop Morris Stevens in the bottom of the 5th and a RBI double by centerfielder Alex White. The double tied the game up at 3-3. No team would then score for 10 innings, and we saw some crazy things on the way. The Cobras had to put lefty Scott O'Neal, normally a first baseman, at shortstop. A Slayers hitter actually drew a walk. So, in the top of the 16th, after Adam Lind drew a walk, Jeff Francoeur hit a liner over the left-center field wall to give the Slayers a 5-3 lead. Brian Wilson came into the bottom of the 16th and got a 1-2-3 inning for his 7th save of the season.

Good to see this back. I'm glad I didn't miss all of this log. :D Could I have Kevin Millar and Brian Wilson for agents?

UPCOMING SERIES

Sacramento Slayers (14-7) vs Vancouver Whalers (11-10)

The Slayers look to keep their hot streak going and maintain first place in the NL West against division rival Vancouver Whalers. It is another 2-game series, their second one in a row. Here are the Whalers players that we need to watch out for:

Pierre Coquilette, C, #34, L/R, 23 years old
2 TRJ, E CON, B PWR, D RUN SPD, D ARM STR, B FLD, B E RES
GM REPORT: The rookie catcher has been the Whalers' best offensive threat so far this season, hitting .366, with 3 HR and 9 RBI. Coquilette has excellent gap power, which makes him a pain to defend in the spacious outfield of Panpaka. He can also run pretty well for a catcher, so expect some extra base hits out of him this series.

Chris Lynch, 3B, #32, R/R, 35 years old
3 TRJ, E CON, C PWR, E RUN SPD, D ARM STR, E FLD, C E RES
GM REPORT: The Slayers have done a pretty good job of dealing with guys like Lynch, who have lots of power but strike out a lot. Nevertheless, Lynch is still a guy to watch out for in this series, as he has managed to keep his average above .300, and he also leads the team in OBP (.415).

Jason Bonds, SP, #45, R/R, 32 years old
95 TOP SPD, C CTRL, A STAM, SLD 4, CHG 2, SNK 3
GM REPORT: Bonds has struggled so far this season, but nevertheless, he is still the most talented starter the Whalers have. The Slayers have a tough task of facing him in Game 1 of this series.

PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUP:

Game 1: A. Sanchez (1-1, 6.19) vs. J. Bonds (1-2, 6.08)
Game 2: S. Marcum (3-1, 4.94) vs. K. Davis (0-4, 9.00)

Ah, yes.

The job of Free Agency Advisor needs to be filled. Tasks include going over the eligible free agents every offseason and telling me which ones I should sign and for how much.

Inquire within.

NO YELLING IN MY THREAD~!

*ahem* Anyways...

4-23-08

Sacramento Slayers 0 - Vancouver Whalers 1

SUMMARY: A heartbreaking loss to the Whalers ends the Slayers' winning streak at 6. Anibal Sanchez pitched as well as he possibly could today, going all 8 innings and striking out 13. However, Jason Bonds pitched better, shutting out the Slayers offense despite not striking out a single batter. He simply missed the sweetspot of the Slayers' bats, and got a ton of ground ball outs. The lone run was scored by a Pierre Coquilette single into left field in the top of the 4th, scoring Charlie Serrano from second base.
