Overall, the Reapers finished with 2 awards.

"Arguably, we have gotten better as a team than we were last year. We've had some better individual performances, worthy of even a couple awards. And the team has only gotten 1 more loss than the previous year. The worse record along with not making the playoffs could be attributed to other teams simply being better. In any case, we will be celebrating the awards as a team, well, I know they will. I'm still not sure if they intend to invite me to the celebrations."

Contract Renewal:
The Reapers have successfully renewed all player contracts.

Notable:
Siegmund signed for 4550 for one year. "After the year he had, he is deserving of a raise. I tried to get him signed to a more long term contract, but he didn't seem to want to sign something long term yet."
Pedroia signed for 490 for one year. "We were definitely willing to pay more for him, we were surprised at his immediate signing at a lower salary than the one he was paid last year."
Orie signed for 410 for one year. "I wanted to sign him to something more long term, but I guess he would rather see his skills at the MLB level before signing at such a low price for a longer contract."
Rottino signed for 410 for one year. "I was really surprised at his requested salary, a 3.66 ERA and tied for the league lead in wins and he asks for a pay cut? Well, I wasn't going to argue."

I have tried, and this year it seems it will let me sign free agents, not cheaply, but it will.

"There's a few positions we have definite weaknesses in, if we can't sign anyone to improve those weaknesses then we will be spending spring training working on teaching some of our players some new positions to fill the weaknesses. Some positions we could use help in, starting with needing the most help, are SS, CF, and LF. I already plan some position changes that can deal with the SS and CF problems, so most urgently I would like to sign a Left Fielder. Signing the other positions and making position changes unnecessary will definitely help the team as well. Also, despite our team's amazing ERA overall, I feel it can't hurt to sign another ace starter, our starting rotation does have a couple weak spots."

Free Agents Available:

P:
Schilling
G.Thompson
Wise
L.Hernandez
Morris
Howry
G.Miller
S.Shields
Myers
Sosa
R.Soriano
Ayala
Beckett
Hendrickson
Peavy
Rusch
O.Perez
Prior

C:
R.Hernandez
R.Castro
Schneider
Valentin
Bard

1B:
Gload
Stairs
M.Sweeney (Mike)
M.Sweeney (Mark)

2B:
B.Roberts
Ellis

SS:
Cora
Vizquel
Crosby
Infante
J.Wilson
C.Izturis

3B:
Lamb
Crede
Beltre
Blalock
Feliz
Helms
Wigginton
Tracy
Figgins

LF:
W.Harris
Hairston Jr.
Damon
S.Stewart
Michaels
Catalanotto
Bay
Podsednik
D.Roberts

CF:
Crisp
M.Cameron
G.Anderson
Freel

RF:
Nady
Dellucci
Ordonez
Sheffield
Kearns
Winn

"As an old Red Sox fan, it is tempting to try to sign Beckett, but with a 9260 asking salary I may have to decide against it. Peavy might make a good alternative as they are around the same age and skill level and he's only asking for 7410, that is still pretty high for this team though. There aren't really many other starters available, and the others aren't really ace starters. Jack Wilson is another player I'm looking at, he had a nice year last season with a .275 average and 26 home runs, he's not too old, and he's only asking 3860 to start. Of all the free agents this year, Bay is the one I'm most seriously considering. He plays the position we need help in and I have no other plans for, he's still pretty young, he had a great year last year, hitting .285 with 119 RBIs, and he's only asking 3850 to start."

Just like last year, here I will pause to allow feedback. However, because the game will allow me to sign players this year, feedback will actually matter this year.

If you have any questions (such as asking salary of specific players, or whether the stats of specific players have changed much over the 2 year period), do not hesitate to ask. Okay, fine, you can hesitate, just please ask them.

The Reapers have released their old shortstop, Dawley, during the free agent period.

"Well, he wasn't that good, there wasn't too big of a penalty for releasing him, and, after analyzing the scouting reports, his backup may actually have been better than him."

Reapers Free Agent Signings:
Josh Beckett signed for 8500 for 5 years.
Jack Wilson signed for 4000 for 2 years.
Jason Bay signed for 3850 for 4 years.
Shannon Stewart signed for 400 for 1 year.

"Overall, this is a huge salary increase for the team. But as long as I lay off the training equipment, we have the money to spend. We not only filled the weak spots on the team, but strengthened one of our stronger points as well. We managed to sign a cheap and competent pinch hitter in Stewart, our pinch hitting before has been pretty mediocre. Jack Wilson is a huge upgrade both offensively and defensively compared to our old shortstop. All things considered, I'd say our team has a pretty good shot at making the playoffs in the 2010 season."

Why do they give ALL of the relievers C stamina? I just thought that since they were gray-bars they would all have E or maybe even an F, and a D with some saving and reloading.

I guess it's because they don't know what the pitchers are going to be used for, so they give all of them nearly the same stamina ratings. If they gave all the pitchers E and F stamina your whole pitching staff would get worn out and you'd have pretty much no chance. None of your starters would be pitching long enough to get wins.

The high stamina generated for relief pitchers has pretty much spoiled me. I get offered relievers in trades sometimes and never take them. I have some B stamina relievers in AAA now, I see no good reason to trade for somebody with E stamina.
