Yeah, I haven't really been stellar with him, he just always seems to get no a decision in the games that he should have lost. He has a good ERA, but not a lot of K's. Techer though, he has some K's. Our next game is with him pitching. Those are always my favorites. :D I have a couple games played, and I'll update them in the morning.

8-24-08- The Sluggers won another close one against the Blue Jays last night, in comeback fashion. It was a very high scoring game, and it looked that way from the beginning. The Jays started it in the 1st, on a leadoff homer by Eckstein, and RBI singles by Stairs and S.Stewart. The Sluggers also got some runs in the 1st, on a Greene RBI single, and a Withey RBI single to make it 3-2, Blue Jays. Lyle Overbay hit a solo homer in the 4th for the Jays, while Pablo Gonzalez and Nate Withey both got RBI's, on a double and a single, respectively. Matt Stairs hit a 2 run homer for the Jays in the 5th, and made it 7-6. The 7th was bad for Sluggers, as the gave up 5 runs, on a Rios RBI double, a Wells RBI double, a 2 RBI double by Stairs, and an RBI double by Overbay, to make it 7-11. Rios hit a solo homer in the 8th, and made it 12-7. This is where the comeback happens, as the Sluggers scored 4 runs on a Gordon 2 RBI single, a Gonzalez RBI double, and a Greene RBI single to make it 11-12. Nathan Withey then strode up to the plate, and hit a 3 run walk-off homer to right field to make the final 14-12. Our next game is on the 27th, versus the Rangers, with Techer starting.

Yeah... not what you'd really expect from a team full of rookies. We also have a magic number, I keep forgetting to post that though. Its around 15 I think.

"Another month is gone already, Bob." said Alex.

"Only one more left, then its playoffs." said Bob.

"Well, with the month gone, its time for the review to put in the newspaper. I just wanted to run it by you before I sent it." said Alex

"Well, pass it here." replied Bob.

August in Review
The Sluggers had a bad month of August for their standards, but it was still a fairly good month. They went 17-11 on the month, and are now 96-38 on the year. The major league record for most wins in a season is 116, and the Sluggers have a chance to achieve that with another 20 win month. They are 17 games ahead of the Angels in the AL West, and 15 ahead of the Yankees overall. The Sluggers have a magic number now, which is down to 12. Alex Gordon won Player of the Month for August, and is leading the league in hits, at 196, 4th in homers, at 34, and 2nd in RBI's, at 132. Other players who are doing well include Ryan Techer, who is still at 1st place in ERA, at a cool 2.41. Thornton is 2nd in wins, at 17. Washington still has the most saves, at 35. Lastly, Withey and Anderson are fighting out a battle for the best batting average, and they are tied now at .370. In other news, the Sluggers called up rookie Rosado to play, and he is likely to split the job of swing man, with over-worked and injured Kyle Miller, once Miller recovers. Let's hope that the Sluggers can finish the season strong, and clinch a spot in the playoffs.

"Wouldn't that be amazing if we won 116 games? Or even more?" asked Bob.

"That would be quite a feat for anyone, let alone a team full of rookies." replied Alex.

"I would go down in history as the owner of that team." said Bob.

"Well, while you day-dream, I'm gonna go send this to the newspaper company." said Alex, and he left the room.
