I think you can change names in Season Mode itself, I believe. Not sure if it works for Success players. I think it's in the blue menu, under Register New Name.

The Sharpshooters lost a tough one this afternoon. No score until the fifth when Buck knocked in a run for the A’s. More highlights of the game included two home runs: Frank Thomas with one and Kurt Suzuki with another. Bobby Crosby of the A’s also went 4-4. Blanton had a complete game shutout. So, overall, a disappointing game for the Sharpies.
