In AAA, were going to have the coaches work on his mechanics and confidence. Once I feel that he's better, than I'll call him back up and put him in the rotation. Does that answer your question?

A's 3
Mariners 0

In the top of the 1st, Jackson hit a 2-run homer to give the A's a 2-0 lead. In the 9th, Bando doubled in a run to extend the lead to 3. That's all Grove and Grant need as they shutout the Mariners on 5-hits. Grove said that it was nice to finally get his 1st win of the season and hopefully more will follow.

WP Grove (1-1)
LP Gary Wheelock (2-1)
SV Grant (4)

A's record 15-10

The following trade happened:

Oakland received Moe Drabowsky (P), Brady Anderson (OF), and Don Buford (OF) while Baltimore got the following pitchers: Don Larsen, Diego Segui, and Charlie Hough.

The A's owner Charles O'Finley said that he was excited to get Drabowsky, Andersen, and Buford. He also went on to say that he hopes that they can contribute to the team and bring them closer to a championship.

Jim Beattie was once again dominant as he held the A's batters to 3 hits and 15 K's. Beattie leads MLB with an amazing era of 0.22. The lone run came in the 4th as Terry Steinbach doubled to score a run. McNamara said that's nothing new from Beattie. He went on to say that Beattie is amazed on how well he's pitching this year.

WP Jim Beattie (5-0)
LP Len Barker (0-1) (*Barker was picked up as free agent earlier in the season*)
SV Enrique Romo (3)

A's record 15-11

A's 5

Jim Roland made his comeback from AAA today as he fooled the Angels hitters with a dominant performance. Roland pitched a complete game 3-hit shutout. Along with that he fanned 13 batters. In the 1st, Henderson doubled to make the score 1-0. Then later that inning, Foxx also doubled to bring the lead up to 2. In the 2nd, Cochrane and Foxx each hit a solo homer to extend the lead to 4. In the 7th, Henderson hit a solo homer to make the score 5-0. That was more than enough run support for Roland. Roland said that is great to come back and pitch well for the A's. He also said that it was a great thing that he was sent down. McNamara said that he was proud of Roland's performance and also of the A's hitters.

WP Roland (3-3)
LP Chuck Finley (1-1)

A's record 16-11

Eckersley was looking for his 5th win of the season. Andy Messersmith of the Angels had other plans. Messersmith only gave up 3 hits and struck out 17 for his 3rd win of the season. In the 2nd, Bobby Grich hit a solo homer to give the Angels a 1-0 lead. Brian Downing added the final run with a single in the 7th. McNamara said that's how it goes sometimes.

WP Andy Messersmith (3-2)
LP Eckersley (4-1)
SV Ken Tatum (4)

A's record 16-12

Dobson was on his game today, but one pitch would cost his team the victory. The game was a scoreless tie going into the bottom of the 10th. Bobby Grich was the batter and looking to end the game w/ one swing of the bat. Dobson on the other hand was a little tired, but still effective as he wanted to extend the game for an 11th inning. That would not happen as Dobson threw a fastball right down the middle and Grich took it out for a 2-run walk off homer to win the game. McNamara said after the game he should of taken Dobson out of the game in the 10th, but it was too late. He also said that Grich is a great hitter and you can't give him a pitch like that or you'll pay for it. Dobson said that he was indeed a little tired, but not using that as an excuse.

WP Bryan Harvey (1-0)
LP Dobson (2-3)

A's record 16-13

Odom almost made the 1st day of May a perfect one. In the 4th, Foxx hit a solo homer to give the A's a 1-0 lead. In the 5th, Jackson hit a 2-run shot to make the score 3-0. Then McGwire hit a solo homer, in the 6th,to give the a A's a 4 run lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Brian Downing hit a solo homer to break up Odom's no-hitter. Odom just gave up 2 hits along with a league leading and record 22 K's. Odom said that everything was clicking today. McNamara was speechless.

WP Odom (4-0)
LP Chuck Finley (1-2)

A's record 17-13

Sorry I haven't updated this log for a very long time. I just haven't had the time to play video games. Maybe later on I'll add to this or even start a new log w/ a different team.
