Does anyone have any tips on how to make a good pitcher?
Every time I try to make one, I end up being cut at AA.
I think i had a pretty good pitcher with good stats and with only an ERA of 0.87 in 21 innings.

I've been reading about how some people have a whole bunch of players made and maxed out and i can't even complete one. What am i doing wrong?

Avoid getting injured. Save before everygame. Practice on getting scout eval up. It is very important to get scout eval up. The more K's you get a game, the better eval you get.

This success mode is a lot harder than the 07 Success mode. I've yet to finish a player in 08 without a lot of S/L

Isn't there an item that makes the scout eval go up faster?

Yes some fragrance thing from Bison's shop.
I find 08 easier as you can S/L since March of Year 1.

I haven't tryed to S/L like everyone says to, i only save when i get off, so if i get cut after i have to restart maybe 2 hours back. So i will definitely start saving before each game.

I never save either except for this:
If you don't have enough scout eval and you're close to doing the scout challenge, then save on the 2nd or 3rd week of November
Do that and you can do the normal point challenge, or do "I can do better than that" and I got 11 scout eval points to get to AAA
If you don't make it and you think that 11 points is just enough to make it to AAA, then do it

Also, when you get to AAA, do all of your arcs/random events like the steak house up until January week 4 when you're introduced
After that you can do practices for coach's eval again, if your coach's eval isn't enough then buy 2 or 3 shiny fragrances and maybe a powerin or 2 and then use then after week 4 of january

I save after each and every week. Reloading is a major part of success mode, and it's the only way I make maxed out players. As for going on to the next year, I recommend trying to get at least ten coach eval points per game. You will always get more scout eval points than coach eval points in games, and if you get at least ten coach eval points, you'll be set in no time to go on to the next year, maybe even have enough scout eval points by the end of year one that you wouldn't need ANY in year two.

I've re-done success mode twice, pitched nearly flawlessly and got all eval increasing stuff. I still don't see how no s/l characters are possible in 08.

They are.

See: Every player I've made in success mode.

The first 2 pitchers i made were no s/l. It is possible and they don't really suck though ;p

Because of the injury system, I don't think I'll ever believe that an 08 player has been done with no s/l, you get injured and you lose pretty much all your points (and some stats) and have to get healed.

Did you ever do it with pitchers? Maybe their harder. I'll try hitters later.

And I mean without S/L even once.
