:mystery: All I have to say is how in the world do you guys have the time during success mode to do a lot of the side quest and still make a good player. I have to eat hot dogs and practice to get at least a fair player. I wonder if I am doing things right or maybe I just try to do it fast. Please :engprof: me.

A lot of the "side quests" get you points and other stuff that help you make a good player. And maybe you are trying to get through it too fast. Success Mode requires a lot of patience and reloading. It usually takes me two or three days to make a maxed out player.

The best one in my opinion is Sittch's ninja training. You get tons of experience points, abilities, a new glove, and an original pitch if you're a pitcher. You just go to the Lake on week 2 of every month, and there's a guide here: wiki/index.php?title=Sittch_Events_2008

I think I do go thru it to fast I can go thru success without having to save and make it. I just did a pretty decent pitcher but I think I need to try to do these. :woot:

I do that too, only it takes me about an hour to make 1 player, and I still manage to get good players (see Chip Dorito, Toby Baker and his 102-mph fastball)

P.S.: Like the sig!

I do all of the side quests early and rarely, if ever, practice before the off-season that follows AA. The reason for doing this: side quests, getting special abilities from the Street (book, movie, CD), and all of the RE”s provide Energy points for your energy bar, and the sooner you fill your energy bar, the more turns you will get from start to finish. Also, those side quests (specifically Frank, Sittch and the Steak lady) provide more than enough experience points for boosting your guy as the AA season rolls along, so racking up major Coach/Scout points during games is easy – no Prince Necklace or Fancy Fragrance required. No special Coach practice required. Just make sure you dominate your games.

So in a nutshell: Whether you practice early or late makes little difference. Those extra turns make all the difference.

If I am making a hitter, I might practice (weights) 1-3 times before the first playable game to get my power up. The fences are short so it doesn’t take much. With 90+ PWR, 2-3 TRJ, 4 CON and the Psychic Goggles (pause & un-pause for guaranteed 4-seamers) you can hit 2+ homers by the first game. Then you get your hands on a Bomber Arch, lather it up with some Bat Wax, eat a few steaks and *bam* you’re rolling. The AAA fences are deep, but there is more than enough time during the offseason to boost your power over 200 prior to the first game.

For a pitcher heading to the first playable game, all you need to do is boost stamina, acquire a Lvl 2+ breaking pitch, and purchase the Psychic Goggles. More IP = more coach/scout points. More K/IP = more coach/scout points. And more scout/coach points = more experience points. So boost your stamina early and often and get those nasty breaking pitches. Don’t ignore MPH, but it’s secondary, and with the Psychic Goggles, control is a non-factor. When I made Blackbeard, I practiced once (Top Speed) during the AA season and that was only because there were no decent Commands available.

Whether you are making a hitter or pitcher, starting with Pr Sense helps a ton.

So while my son slept this afternoon. I sat down for some quite time and played MLBPP 08 and did the side quest. I just started with the golden apples.( mmm apples) anyway. It was pretty fun doing those. Not to mention you get ablities with out having to spend points on them. :woot:
