I would like to create Buster Posey. I would like feedback as I want him created as accurately as possible.

Buster Posey
Catcher/SS (Unsure whether I should put this as second pos. as it is unlikely he''ll play there)
R/R
D.O.B: March 27 1987

Contact 9/10 (I'm leaning more towards 9)
Power Maybe between 95-115
Run Speed 6/7
Arm Strength 14
Fielding 13/14
Trj ?2
E-Res 12??

Abilities
Gold Golver? ??Too early in his career to have this ability.
Contact Hitter
Hot Hitter?
Table setter (has on base percentage)

Just let me know what you guys think

I think your fielding ratings for him are a little high, considering he hadn't played a game at catcher til a few years ago.

Posey is a gap-to-gap line drive hitter who should hit for a high average. CON 9 is a good place to start (+/- .285 with no abilities), especially when you combine it with Contact Hitter.

Scouts only project 15-20 homers per season at his peak (he does have 11 homers in 72 games, but the California League is the most hitter-friendly league on the planet). With no abilities, a PWR rating of 100-115 translates to approximately 9-13 HR’s per season (computer controlled) in MLBPP, so that’s probably a good place for him to start.

TRJ 2 suits his line drive swing / modest power combination.

Posey has good speed for the position. He was a shortstop until his sophomore year in college. I don’t think SPD 9 or 10 is out of bounds, but 6 or 7 is definitely too slow.

His best defensive skill is his arm. I would use 13, maybe 14 (although a catcher with 14 or 15 can gun down virtually any base stealer).

His glove is still a bit raw. Learning to handle big league stuff from guys like Lincecum, etc. will take time and no shortage of passed balls. Not sure how to address passed balls – FLD or ERES? Whichever rating it is, I would set a shade below league average while setting the other a shade above. As you have him now, he would be the best defensive catcher in the game – he is not and probably never will be.

he's projected to pan out like joe mauer with less power, really. But he's hitting well this year.

Joe Mauer is a once-in-a-generation kind of player. Posey is a nice prospect, but is he the next link in this chain: Mickey Cochrane > Josh Gibson > Yogi Berra > Roy Campanella > Johnny Bench > Carlton Fisk > Gary Carter > Ivan Rodriguez > Joe Mauer > ????? ??????

That's a tall order, even for Bryce Harper.

I ended up going with a makeup of

Contact 9
Power 115
Arm strength 13
Speed 10
Fielding 9
E-res 7 (I'm pretty sure this impacts upon passed balls and wild throws etc)
Trj 2

Hot hitter
Contact hitter
Throwing

Very nice. I look forward to adding adding him to the Giants 40-man roster.
