I ran into this problem creating a realistic pitcher. Every game he pitches in he almost always picks up Good Low Pitch, which I DON'T want for this particular pitcher...Very annoying.

So far I've tried various ways to get removed before I can do much. Although this prevents getting scout eval, I don't worry about it because without maxing, there's lot of spare time which can be used to raise scout eval through training.

  • Get shelled intentionally. I think if you give up a certain number of runs, you can't acquire an ability from that game.
  • Keep throwing over to first, because pickoff attempts drain stamina. Do this till you start panting. After you're done with the current batter, you'll be removed.

It's generally been successful, but I just got removed after 0.1 innings and still(!) got Good Low Pitch. What happened was I was given control with no outs in 1st, then I drained stamina by pickoff attempts, got K on a high pitch and got removed. I guess I should have walked the last guy instead of K-ing him. I'll probably go mad if the game still gives me Good Low Pitch with 0.0IP! On a side note, that you can get this ability by pitching only one K, not even on a low pitch, is pretty interesting.

Ways to avoid other abilities:
Fastball Life: Probably just reload, or if you're desperate get a FB Life reduction by doing Patty's arc but not helping her after Ben collapses.
Dr K: Probably based on number of Ks, so use stamina draining methods to leave the game early and/or pitch to contact.
VS LHB: You can reload, or walk all lefties you face. If you pick up the negative Walk ability, you can cure it later from the ability boost screen.
General: If you're making a power pitcher, try to get most of your velocity from glove wax. That way, you can unequip the glove before the game so you won't dominate and end up with unwanted abilities. I actually had to do this once because my 99mph pitcher would throw an automatic perfect game and pick up Good Low Pitch. Without the glove he only threw 93, so I was able to get control after he gave up a runner.

The only bad thing about this is the team you face where every single batter is a lefty. But, the pick off work around you explained would probably work for that.

That's the first thing I tried, but it doesn't work. At first I theorized the COM was throwing low when I didn't have control of the game, but then in my 0.1IP effort, I threw all pitches high and still got it. So...throwing low would seem to have zero effect on gaining this ability.
