I picked up MLB PP 08 for the Wii a few days ago.
Wanted to start MLB Life but found out I need to make a dude in Success mode first.
I tried with a batter 3B first and didn't make it to the AAA. My guy basically sucked and couldn't hit the ball (mostly my fault ). So I tried a pitcher... Made it to the AAA this time. Pitched very good each time in AA. Then they bench me my whole time in AAA and Gill gets mad at me. Then out of the blue I get released. :x

Any tips on how to make it in success mode? I really want to bring a guy up from that mode into MLB Life.

Thanks!

Did you read the instruction book? Based on some of your comments, it doesn't sound like you know the fundamentals of how to make it to AAA or start in AAA and make it to the majors. I would suggest reading the manual about success mode first. Also, as the previous post mentioned, you do not have to have a success mode player to play life mode. You can play a current player or you can pick some traits for your player and play that.

I've read the manual. There is an option in life mode that requires you to have a success mode player. I know you can start a MLB life without one but the option I wanted to play requires one. I'm at work now, when I get home i'll check the manual again to see which option that was.

I also started a guy in MLB life that started from the AAA. I was drafted by the Blue Jays. Played with them for 2 years then got traded to the Brewers. It's been 3 years and my pitcher (closer) still sucks! I neg my contract with them 3 times and ended up getting lower than I got my first year. I might start over and make him younger. I started him at my age (25). You should be in your prime at that age not making under $1,000,000!

If you really want to play with a good quality pitcher and don't want to make your own, just use some on the forums. Here's a few links to some compleatly unrelated strong players (there all mine haha).
A strong closer (who has B stamina as I only had left over strength points at the end, enough to get from low c to B) with three maxed pitches (Knuckle Ball, Slow Curve and Two-Seamer), 105 Mile Fastball, C control and almost all of the abilities. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1745
My current ace Satan who has plenty of high level pitches but none maxed (5 pitches, lowest being 3 and the highest being 6. Most are 4 and 5). He has every ability but 2 (dr.k and intimidator) and has a Gyroball(its impossible in this game to get intimidator and Gyroball, so picked gyroball). viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1647
Finally, if your interested in a strong hitter, my guy Grim Reaper is maxed in everything but error resistance or fielding (forget which) and has all but 2 abilities. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1557

You could also go to the wiki if you don't like cownip's players. There are some more in there.

yo yo ma that's some pitcher. Does anyone even use the gyroball in the game besides custom players? I don't think I saw DiceK with it. I'd have to print off the page to enter all those characters
Thanks for the info!

im pretty sure no real player has it in MLB

and Dice-k doesnt throw one anyway, what happened was he had a running fastball or something, that seemed like a reverse slider, or shuuto, but in the Red Sox report, they mistook the Shuuto for the Gyroball. i may be wrong on this, but i think its accurate.

Thanks mate, I'm glad you like them. In this game for some reason, it isn't a pitch like it is in real life (and compleatly over rated pitch at that, its below average) but something that makes your fastball have a huge amount of movement and move like a "gyroscope" or football spiral.

Dice-K accidentally throws them sometimes.

he does accidentally throw one, but i dont think he should have the ability if he cant consistently throw one when he wants.

Trust me, you're not the only one to make a post about how hard Success Mode is.
