These are based off of my observations playing the game. 1. Get energy up as quickly as possible, and use carryover chocolates as much as you can. Energy drinks + a source of money early equals alot more turns then you should normally have. 2. The PI job is overpowered for its surprise bags. It basically equals about $950 for 1 turn, or $200 + an ability from one of the books, $200 + and equipment improvment item. Use this event to get the gambling ring as early as possible. 3. Win every game, or do super well and you'll never have to worry about how much you practice. 4. The steakhouse can raise your stamina (pitcher) or power (hitter). This is very useful when your stam/power is at high level and costs alot more power. The super steak that you can find comes to mind here. 5. Dr Goodjob is alot easier to get. 6. Need to figure out what events give what abilities before we determine what strategy is best for saving/loading ^_^ Anyways, i have not been able to play this version as much as i played the 07 version, so i'm open to input. |

10 chars, and 4 Dr. Badjobs.... a pretty good percentage for a small sample. |

I've created about 7 players and only got Dr. Goodjob once. I didn't have last years game so I had no idea what was going on. I signed and gave him full access, went with "build strength" and he made my character great. I had no idea it could have been so bad! So far I'm 1 for 1 positive with him, but I'll be cautious after reading these posts. |

I got Dr. Goodjob twice, one fail and one success. Oh, and by the way, where have I heard your name before, WTP? |

Meeting with Jaw and getting Surprise Bags definitely made the player better, I could nearly match exactly stat-for-stat what my player's 2007 counterpart has. Plus the money he gives you is great, enough to buy any equipment you want AND get all of the waxes to improve them. |

If you're looking to max out a guy use gamblers tickets (or the ring that I think I've heard about but never gotten) while saving/reloading to get all the abilities you want. |

I just hope I didn't jinx myself with my latest character -- got about 3-4 Gambler's Rings while trying for a Secrets of Hitting/Defense book. |

It has been my impression in limited runs that making average to above average MLB character (all c's in abilities minimum) is for the most part fairly easy and requires little or no save/ reload. I personally have not found were buying bats, gloves, and spikes gives you a terribly great advantage considering the cost of the items to buy. That money could be used for Carryover Choc, Powerin, Enegry Drinks ect and come in much better use. Plus you save the turns spent at Bison's buying the equipment. But this is based off of two runs through. |

As a pitcher, a glove wax can equal +2mph, so getting a surprise bag and $200 in 1 turn equals +2mph from one turn. When your speed is in the 90-105 range, +2mph in 1 turn is more then you could get with any kind of practice/gamble. There is alot of saving/loading involved there, but nothing more extreme then 07 ![]() |

Fielders are a breeze though. I am starting to think that following the same method as '07 in that practicing during the season only and using the offseason to work/ date is viable. The format doesn't seem much different really. The thing that got me was the high price of bats for little return. One practice for the skills points needed to raise my power by 5 points is better than working twice for the same amount of money to buy a bat to cover that same amount of points? No thanks. The gloves don't add much either for the price unless you are a pitcher. |

The gloves don't add much either for the price unless you are a pitcher. The nice thing about Jaw is that doing 4 jobs will net you a $1,000 bat and 4 Surprise Bags. Do it four more times and you got your glove and spikes, plus 4 more Surprise bags. Easily 1 Gambler's Ring, a handful of Secrets of Pitching/Hitting/Defense and a few Waxes, if you wanted 'em. (I wonder, if it costs more exp. points to train in something, will removing your equipped item lower those costs if you are near a threshold?) |
