according to Win Shares analysis 1923 was Ruth's best year, when he hit .393. But I disagree with that, actually. 1921 (age 26) is probably right.

Is giving him pitching abilities to much? I mean I'd like to just to show how good he was but on a team with so many good pitchers you wouldn't ever need him to pitch. He had the potential to be one of the best pitchers of all time with his 2.36 ERA very early in his career so maybe we should, but it could be too much work. Other then that, he needs contact hitter, bases clearer, Clutch hitter 5, B2B hitter, Hot Hitter isn't really needed but it makes it much easiar, Power Hitter, Intimidator, refined, Consitency 4, throwing arm 4, cannon arm (because of the 20 put outs 2/3 years). I'm sure t

Only one I would suggest is making a second Babe Ruth for a pitcher. I mean he did dominate the league for 5 years as a pitcher, winning 3 World Series, before he decided to become a feilder!

Can anyone who has ever played the game even come close to the "Babe" as the best baseball player of all time?

Here's the thing though. We can say that about a lot of pitchers and they end up getting injured. Maybe we should make them based on a particular year?

I may be getting on the Wii tonight and doing a little research about about hitting percentages and RBI's. I was going to use a combination of abilities to see how it affects the automatic stat generator, to get a range for abilities.

I wouldn't use that, that is completely off. All pitchers ERAs are much lower on there then they actually are and averages and RBI are generally much higher. I know this is very long, but maybe autoing part of a season for a few months would be a better way?

We are doing career to decide the best player but we'll probably base the actual player we make on a particular year.

Most of your pitchers wouldn't do. I had to research for over an hour, most of the best pitchers you haven't heard of. At the same time, a lot of these guys were in the deadball error, so maybe they shouldn't be counted. I think Koufax should be in there without doubt, the others I'm not 100% sure about. Anyone interested in Happy Jack Chesbro, the old Yankee ace, who had 41 wins one year, the most ever.

how can you not have Honus Wagner as SS? I think that one is obvious.

No, I compleatly agree. Just look at all the other post. I'm leaning more towards him personally, but there are plenty of other players. Lets finish all the position players before we get into pitchers. So what we still have to determine is Center Field, Second Baseman, Shortstop, DH, and Third Baseman. Catcher is both Yogi Berra and Johnny Bench. I think we can all agree that we should end what will be the never ending fighting and make all 3 choices, Ty Cobb, Joe Dimaggio and Willie Mayes. Shortstop I believe should be Honus Wagner.
