I probably should rephrase that. Based on what I read on here, it sounds like some stress practicing on the 4th week and stress practicing when the coach is there to build up coach and scout, which I don't. I think the games is where the gusto is. Let me look through a player log (for a maxed hitter) that I am currently doing and count the numbers of times I practiced during year 1 before I made it into AAA. I will post it later on tonight.

I do practice to get my strength up to boost power first, because this is what gets you the RBIs and HRs in the game which give you more experience points as well as higher coach and scout points.

I might end up eating my words, which wouldn't be the first time. I guess I probably need to be more clear. I don't ever practice to build up coach and scout points. I do practice to build up experience points. You do get a boost to experience if coach is there and you do get a boost during week 4.

Again, I will look at my player log and see how many times I practiced during the first year before I got promoted to AAA.

Same here. I also like using the G-Ring to get Power Hitter, Refined & Spray Hitter early on to make those big games easier to get. Nothing is more frustrating than hitting a couple of bombs that die at the warning track because your power is still only 75. With those three abilities, 75 power is all you need to go yard on a pretty consistent basis and get more hits on miss-hits.

To quote Rizzuto, Holy Cow! How did this come up to the top of the forum? Its been at least a month, maybe two! I should fix the mispelling. I don't need any more help, thanks all the same. I figured this all out a long time ago.

You can get Power Hitter from LoB as well.
You cannot get Refined by gambling only from SoH.

Thanks for the correction. I get Refined from the Dog Lady the second time through (1st time Surprise Bag > Gambler's Ring; 2nd time Surprise Bag > SoH > Refined). I'm sure it's personal preference, but I prefer to gamble for the other two to get them early . . . especially now that I can do the Dog Lady trick for $1000 ea to be used on equipment & power wax at the end of the game.

I said it could be done for $1000 a pop, but I wouldn't recommend trying to reload the surprise bags to get gambling rings, plus they take up valuable carryover chocolate space in your items bag, unless you do the 10 jobs the last 10 playable weeks of the second year.

If you do this let me know, I would like to see how your character turns out.

You need 80 scout points to make it to the majors.

There are 5 games during Year 1 - Aegis, WildJokers, MachSocks, Burgers, WildJokers

So, if I get let's say 6 coach and 13 scout points per game. I would have a total of 40 coach (you start with 10) and 65 scout points at the end of year 1 just from the games. Plus There is the scout test and you get about 5 scout from that.

As of Dec Week 1 Year 1 after I just made the team, here are my following stats

Commands Executed = 54
Energy Gained = 100 as of Nov Week 2
Coach Points = 53 (8 from 9 Practices) (33 from 5 Games) (10 to start with) Need 60 to start first AAA game.
Scout Points = 80 (4 from 9 Practices) (72 from 5 Games) (4 from Scout test) Need 40 to get into AAA. Need 80 to get into Majors.
Jaw Jobs = 5 (3 surprise bags for Gambler's Ring, LoB-Power Hitter, SoH-Refined)(Bomber's Arch)(Discout Coupon)

Attributes
Trajectory: 3
Contact: 12 B
Power: 146 B
Run Speed: 11 C
Arm Strength: 11 C
Fielding: 12 B
Error Resistance: 15 A
Abilities: Clutch Hit 4, Contact Hitter, Power Hitter, Hot Hitter, Tough Out, Good B2B HTR, Firstball HTR, Table Setter, Throwing 4, Consistency 4, Cannon Arm, Good Morale, Aggressive Run, Good Small Ball

So, you can look at this in one of three ways in terms of practicing based on my previous post results.

In 10 months, I practiced 9 times for a MPA (monthly practice average) of .900 OR
In 40 weeks, I practiced 9 times for a WPA (weekly practice average) of .225 OR
In 54 possible chances, I practiced 9 times for a CPA (command practice average) of .167

Another statistic is 54 commands executed in 10 months for a 5.4 CMA (commands per month average) OR
54 commands executed in 40 weeks for a 1.35 CWA (commands per week average)

These are the beginning of new statistics for MLBPP Succes Mode 2008.

I'm doing a quick run on a SS right now. Problem is, I'm about to begin Year 2 and Jaw just decided to show up. Anyway, it is possible to load your inventory with Carryover Chocolate and get one Gambler's Ring per month while still having room for Secrets/Legends Books using the following monthly plan, and assuming you already have 1 Rookie Charm, 1 Discount Coupon and 1 Gambler's Ring:

- First Action: Visit Bison, fill remaining inventory with 9 Carryover Chocolates. Eat one, thus creating an empty inventory slot.

- Actions during Weeks 1, 2 and 3: Work for Jaw, S/L for Surprise Bag>Secrets/Legends Book. When the book is opened, the ability is applied to the character and the inventory slot is empty again. Repeat as often as you like.

- Final Non-Practice Action of Week 4: Work for Jaw, S/L for the Surprise Bag>Gambler's Ring.

- First Action of the Following Month: Eat a Carryover Chocolate, which opens up another inventory spot, and the cycle continues.

When you visit Bison to buy more chocolate, you sell the 9 extra Gambler's Rings fist. Bada-bing. Bada-boom. $9,000 in 9 months, not to mention cash & abilities earned from the other Jaw jobs. Unfortunately, the S/L required to pull that off would be a serious grind and I'm not sure I have the patience for it.

Yeh, I didn't think of it that way. Good strategy.

What good does it do to eat a Carryover Chocolate when your energy is up.. The commands bar can only go up by 1.5. Am I missing something?

Not true. This is the way it goes.

The energy bar will only allow up to 1.6 of carry over. If you add a carry over chocolate to it, you get 1.9 per turn. If you get lucky enough to get an R.E. that adds to your carryover you can get 2.0 or 2.1 turns for the next turn.

Edit: See Carryover Points / Command Meter Explained Post.
