EDIT: I have successfully (no pun intended) finished Success mode. Scroll down for details.

I'm having some trouble in AAA. AA is insanely easy, but I get called up, don't even get to step on the field, and then they fire me after the second game with the GalaxySharks. EVERY TIME. Hitter or pitcher. I don't save/reload, but I should at least get a chance...right?

I've never had a successful character in 08 without reloading, apparently some people have, but I can't even see how it's possible.

Your best bet is to just reload, at least for games, maybe get an item that helps with coach and scout eval too.

Games are too easy. I have the "increase scout eval" necklace. Still, I never get a chance in AAA. Should I reload the training? That would be incredibly tedious, but...

Not like I have bad players. My latest pitching try, a closer named Ron Chamberlain, with D control, E stamina, Lv 5 CB, Lv 1 CCHG, Lv 2 KB (That's right, a knuckleball) and I got fired. Before I even got to TRY my knuckleball. What am I doing wrong?

The eval bar has to be at the starter level to play in AAA games.

What's going to get that bar up? Necklaces? Training? Both?

I've never had this happen. I've had the coach's eval not quite at starter level for the first game, but I've never gone to the second game without hitting it. Maybe it's an automatic game over?

Make sure you are practicing when the coach hat is there (meaning he's paying attention), and that your Coach eval hits the 'starter' line before that second game. Use the perfume, practice all the time if you have to.

If you're eval is past that line, I don't know what else it could be. they should have you starting the games.

By the way - are you at all interesting in creating real-life players via Success? We have quite a few guys helping out in that effort.

Every time possible you should practice where the coach is, get items that raise it, and do good in games (no runs allowed for pitchers, at least 3 hits or 2 hits and a home run for hitters)

But 08 is ridiculously hard to pass compared to 07, I can't even get realistic players in 08 because they always fail.

You have to train when the coach hat shows there, so pick whatever training type the coach is monitoring.

The necklace and/of perfume help increase coach and scout eval, but not on their own - they only enhance amounts earned while practicing or playing games.

Note to self: perfumes.

Practicing with the coach some, but not all practices. Maybe that will help.

No, the eval isn't getting past the line...at least, I don't think so.

For now, I'm just trying to make it to the end of the game—once—before I start worrying about making real people.

As just about everyone else said, you have to reload in success mode. I would never have been able to max out my players, let alone finish the game.

I'm really not a strong believer in saving and reloading, only when I get a surprise bag. Trust me, I blame S/L on my latest Success Data corruption, which lost a good player I just got to AAA. I usually buy the perfumes in the 3rd week, use them in the 4th week, and you can even get some coach/scout eval even when the coach isn't there, so I do a practice every 4th week.

I used to have a ton of trouble, but it's actually quite easy.
I go to the shop as soon as I have somewhere in the range of $1000 and there's nothing else to do (i.e. no scouts at practice). There, I buy a Prince's Necklace, Psychic Goggles, and a POWERIN or two.

Prince's Necklace will increase your eval, Psychic Goggles helps in games (which in turn increases your eval), and with POWERIN, that's a turn or two you can have that you would normally spend healing up.

Only practice when there's a coach or scout around, but when they are around, go and practice. If you're doing other arcs (Sittch, Patty, etc.), then squeeze those in when you can, but I normally catch up on those in December and January, when the coaches are on vacation.

Using that, I usually have the necessary eval to pass AAA (maybe a bit short on coach's eval though) before I even play a game in AAA.

And, unlike DNK, i'm big on S/Ling. I used to do it traditionally, but I hated coming up with BCDGG players, so I started S/Ling.
Now I have a straight A catcher I posted on here.
Of course, whether YOU S/L is up to you.

I DID IT!!!

Thanks to all of your help, I finally made a player. I didn't save/reload, so he's not spectacular…or even good…but he's got quite a few blue abilities (thank you Gambler's Tickets!)

While I try to find my digital camera, I'll give you guys a sneak peek...

Rootee Hernandez: RF/LF
Phillies, #61
D,E,E,F,F,F, TRJ 1
Some Blue Abilities: Hot Hitter, Firstball Hitter, Cannon Arm (among others)
Back Story: Was Caucasian the entire game until I made him African-American at the last second

Pics up as soon as possible.
