For fielders I suggest that you make the power 100 (E), cont at least F and trajectory 3, that way you'll be able to make a homerun already, but it's kinda hard, so train more until it gets to D. Running speed isn't important for infielders, fielding or error resistant too (in the beginnings), so train you power and contact until it's C
Also, when it's hard to get to A, you should make some money by going to the Steak place, that's where you got 60-80$ and 3-4+ power

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has it's own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of the mystery everyday. Never lose a holy curiousity

For whatever it's worth - I've been having some early success boosting trajectory to 2 as soon as possible with fielders and hitting for contact until power is up a bit. With low power and that trajectory it's really easy to dump balls just over the heads of infielders. I've had a lot more 3+ hit games doing that then I ever did playing with the power swing early on in the past.

Yes, the first thing to work on is power. If I'm making a power hitter, I'll get it to E, my Contact to D, my Power to as much as C/B, my contact to B or A if I want it maxed, a few abilities, then maxing power and contact and most of the hitting abilities. Then I move on to maxing run speed and run-related abilities so that my guy will make the most of his hits and get more triples (I once had an inside-the-park grandslam a few days ago with a C speed player who I maxed speed at the end of the game). Finally, I do fielding last as it doesn't affect how I play the game. I once had one hitter (my best this year) who I almost maxed completely (missed a few abilities) who had B+ power in 2 months(courtesy of dr.goodjob and a good starting guy but with bad sense). He had D contact at the time and for every game from the third on, he always hit at least 2 homers and often every at-bat.
This is a very vague guide, but that's the general strategy for a power hitting. Contact hitters want F-E power first then raising contact to around B/C then power to d then maxing contact. Do the rest later that I mentioned. Plan before hand and decide what's most important. Do you want them to be a speedster with fantastic fielding or a great hitter. For many people, its not worth reloading and getting a guy whose great in every aspect. So, choose what type of player you want him to be. It might help to model him after a player whose playing now. Also, remember that shortstops needs to be great fielders, outfielders need good speed and a very good arm, and catchers need a great arm (B is around average). For these guys, I'd choose fielding first over hitting.

My strategy is to kiss up to the coaches/scouts, because they can make or break your player. Don't worry about maxing anything before the final screen except ARM STR and E RES. Everything else can be upgraded by items:
CON-V Shot
PWR- Bat Waxes
RUN SPD-Spike Wax/Special Spikes
FLD-Glove Wax

I get my CON to a point where I can hit the ball on the screws during games, but aside from that, I do nothing but boost PWR, PWR and more PWR. If I get the G-Ring, I’ll add a few special abilities to make it even easier. Even when building a light-hitting player with 115 PWR, I will relentlessly boost PWR in the early going because the better you perform in games, the more experience/coach/scout points you earn and the less you have to practice. Until the off-season between AA and AAA, I only practice as a fall-back option for those times when the free time cupboard is bare.

I never have to do any coach training, its not hard to pass the coach and scout eval if your guy is good. My first guy was one of two of my 18 or so players to not play every game, including the second year first game. My second guy missed it ever so slightly and did the second game of year 2 and ym first guy was the first I made and didn't start playing till june and just made the scouts eval. 18/18 (If I did 19) passed and I've used the strategy with hitter since my 3rd hitter, and I've made 8 (My first baseman got deleted when my file got corrupted. He was the blue haired lou gherig and he was a pretty good player with no reloads. Mostly d-b with B power. A few abilities.)

Well, I haven't read any of the posts execpt the topic and I have to say this:

I agree that this success mode was hard, it's no longer. For me atleast. I thought at first that this success mode was terrible, but then I played through it more and more and grew accustumed to it. Anyways, I think this success mode (in my opinion) was harder than the first one, although I though the first one was better than the second beacause of the better story line, but of course..... That story is for another topic.

It doesn't help that injuries are far too damaging.

If you get hurt you lose that week's worth of practice, at least one more week getting healed and maybe two if the first try fails, you can lose 50 ability points per category, you lose a few points of power, and your coach and scouting ratings drop. And even if you are careful and only practice with a 0-10% chance of injury you're certainly going to go down to one. I have pretty good success making characters if I save every couple months and only reload if there's an injury. They're overdone.

...and I just had a guy go down with a 1% chance of injury.

Lost 50 points in strength, quickness, mentality and some in the others. Bleh.

Success mode is hard, well I have to say it's normal
We want to make the best for ourselves but we have to go through some rough times
