Probably chocolate bars, they let you get in so many more events/trains. The Legends of Baseball/Secrets of Pitching/Secrets of Hitting (whatever the books are called) are pretty cool too.

I honestly don't use items very often, maybe the Powerin Special? They're good for basic vitality purposes, but that +1 motivation is huge if you need it (and I often do)
