I don't understand why Shuuto Spin is a disadvantage.

Wouldn't any break on a pitch be good? Does shuuto spin cause the ball to break towards the sweetspot or something?

It's probably a red ability because if you try to hit the corners, the pitch will break away or in and be a ball, which will result in you throwing more pitches toward the middle of the strike zone, which means more hits for the opposing team.

But if the break was predictable, couldn't you just adjust your target for that? And even if it had random break, I think that'd be tougher on the batter than the pitcher.

The break isn't predictable though, it can break either way

From previous experiences, a batter facing a pitcher with Shuuto Spin is more likely to make solid contact, just from what I've seen.

Also, Shuuto Spin becomes a blue ability (iirc) if you have a Gyroball.

Gyroball just negates Shuuto Spin, it's still there, but it doesn't do anything. And I would much rather have Shuuto Spin than Gyroball, it just helps so much. You can aim at the corner, have it break just outside for a swinging strikeout, and I don't know how many times I wound up getting a random mistake pitch down the middle, but Shuuto Spin moved the pitch just out of their sweet spot so it resulted in a popout instead of a 500 foot home run.

Shuuto spin is extremely effective when you're playing multi player, because it breaks right off the sweet spot.

Shuuto spin only breaks one way - the same direction a SIFB would break, but it doesn't break all the time

I also think it's more positive than negative, but if you're trying to paint a corner, you really can't. And if you've got 3 balls and want to throw a 4SFB, you have to account for the potential movement.
