Like what specific affect do they have when you are manually batting?

I think it's just a place where the batter seems to get a lot of hits, I don't think they really effect hitting at all. It's more than likely just an indicator of where they hit the most. In success mode if you get a lot of hits off a certain place in the zone that is termed a "hot" zone, it doesn't give a boost or anything like that.

I always try to pitch away from hot zones and towards cold zones. I should think that they would have some effect...
