I am looking to get MLB power pros 2008 again (used to have it on the ps2 few years ago). Tried replaying it on my pc using pcsx2 but looks like the emulator doesnt support the game. I currently have a ps3, got it after my old ps2 broke down. Thing is i really miss Power Pros (my fave game probably) and i am considering buying a new console just to play it again. My local game store sells both (Wii and PS2) and i hoping to hear the forums opinion on the matter. |

Isn't it possible to play PS2 games on the PS3? Go with that, if you can. No reason to blow extra money if you don't need a console. |

The newer model PS3's aren't backwards compatible, so if he has an old one he can still play it, but if he has a new one he can't. I'd recommend the Wii version personally, more members here use it (if you're planning on sticking around). If not, then I don't really know whether or not one or the other is better. |

I would say PS2 for a few reasons. 1. You're already familiar with it and all of it's controls 2. You have Eric Davis 44 and robhallett who are both not only the most knowledgeable Success Mode players on here, but are also are willing to make a character if you ask. Then there's Zero and I who are really good too, but nowhere near the levels of Eric and Rob 3. A much greater collection of real-life players, all of whom are made perfectly 4. Wii users seem to be dwindling here. If you look at the active members consoles, about 80% of them are Wii. But then you have a handful who only play the Japanese game now (PPFan, PPJ, and Liam), another handful who don't play any Power Pros game anymore (Brewers, Mac, S-Jax, and Zumi) and another handful that only play it on occasion (Dish, D-Tigers, Paul, and AgentP). That only leaves you with Anthony, Phillies, and maybe Ham Bone whenever he gets on The only plus' that I can think of for Wii are in you wanted to use the Wii remote for home run derby, and that there's a greater selection of fictional players. |

I have the slim model, which was released after they removed the backwards compatibility. The thing about the Wii is that it has other games that i might like to get (eg: Super smash bros), my only issue is the controller. Not a huge fan of the nunchuck/analog combination, especially for a competitive game like Power Pros. |

All valid points. Although the Wii has some advantages such as new games i could play (stated above) Another major point for me is roster updates. Plan on manually updating them as soon as i get them. Does the choice of consoles come into play in this decision? |

As far as I know, not at all. It's the same for each console. Although, if you need younger players that you can't edit in, you'll be able to find more on PS2. Also, I think Eric was working on some hex editing thing or something at one point. I don't remember what exactly it would do though... |

Definitely get it for PS2. for two reasons 1) Stated above by Skittles 2) We definitely need more PS2 users here. |

Well looks like im getting it on PS2 (unless Wii is ridicously low priced). Btw is there any thread that contains the best created players that i would need to add (i.e: Posey, Darvish .....) |

You can buy a refurbished PS2 for $35 from GameStop. Took me all of 60 seconds and a pair of 20 dollar bills. For a couple of bucks online, I suggest a heavy duty component cable (drastically improves clarity) and a controller that has a longer cord or is wireless. PS2 gear is dirt cheap these days. The hex edit thing . . . I can edit the hex no problem, it's getting the hexed file back onto the PS2 MC that is the issue. Easy if you can mod your PS2 - not easy if you can't. I tried with my last machine and it didn't work. There is a vintage video game store here in town - I might see if one the geeks there can mod a PS2, or find one. If so, game on. Rob and I would tear it up. |

As i might consider getting a modified ps2(quite popular in this region of the world). |

MrLiamcar wrote: If you are willing to pay 60-80 dollars you can get the japanese games for PS3 I did actually consider that, as the only thing better than mlb pp is mlb pp in HD. Thing is i have 3 issues with that: 1-Dont speak japanese, so success mode would be quite difficult to follow 2- Dont know any shops that sell japanese games in middle east. (Altho my aunt is visiting ottawa, canada next month so i could ask her to bring me something if i knew where they sold them) 3-Dont know anything about japanese baseball apart from darvish used to tear it up there |
