Okay - I am something of a cheap guy. I make a lot of money, but I hemm and haw and convince myself not to buy a lot of things - at the supermarket, at music stores, and yes, for video games. It's great for me - I saved up a ton for retirement, own 2 houses, have a paid-off 2005 prius, all at 27. But, I think I am holding off on this game. First off, I only bought MLB PP (2007) in mid-February; because of spring vacations and living with my girlfriend, I have only devoted a few hours a week to it, creating about 30 players, and only getting through one season in season mode. Just last night, I unlocked Arrange Mode participation. So now I have a lot of things I can still do in the old game - finish 9 more seasons with the Pirates club, enter my own arrange team and play 10 seasons - even manage a newly created expansion team for 10 seasons and see how good I can get them. The gameplay mechanics haven't changed a lot - walks are slightly improved, some other minor things - so the real draw for 2008 is additional options, like My Life mode, and an increased depth to Success mode and other things. This is probably worth the $39.99, don't get me wrong; I just think I can hold off for a few months, maybe see the price drop to $25 or so on Amazon, and pick it up then. I have more than enough MLBPP activity left in 2007. I think not allowing the passwords from 2007 really tipped me over the edge on that one; 4 months of free time (2-3 hours during the week, another 4 or so on the weekend) towards getting my 30 guys ready on an arrange team, and now I can't carry them forward. That's too bad. I think we all expected it, but still. When you're a career man, with a girlfriend, concerts and band activities, and hobbies and home life, it's tough to devote all the time to these really in-depth, time-sink games. I think it is phenominal that they produce them, and I am very lucky to finally have access to this series...I'm just not in a big rush. If only I had more free time. |

I have to say I'd probably agree with you here if I was getting the wii version, but since the ps2 version is only $20(less than I paid for 07) I can't pass it up. The new game isn't a huge upgrade but a new success mode, new my life mode, with updated rosters, it's totally worth $20, but I don't know how I would feel to spend $40 on it right away. But, knowing me I'd probably cave in and get it. Good luck with whichever game you decide to play. |

the PS version is onyly $20?!?! holy crap!! wow, I would totally go for that, even right now. Yah, $40 is a bit much - Wii is very popular, and games are more expensive. I'tll be $30 or $25 in no time. |

Here's a tip from me. If there is a newly released game that you want cheaper. Buy it from Gamefly as they take about 5 dollars off since the game is used. But since the game is new. It may not even be opened yet when you buy it. That's what I'm doing and for 17 dollars I think I'm getting a great deal. ![]() |
