If the "44" refers to age, then he's got me beat.

It's funny - I had lost interest in video games, and just stumbled upon power pros when my dad was having knee surgery and wanted something to pass the time during recovery. This was listed as a great game for older people because of all the adjustments to make the game simpler. Anyway, when he went through his recovery without opening the disc, I decided to give it a try and have been hooked ever since. As long as I get my kids to bed before 8:30, I make time to play at least one game/night Tue-Thur.

No... I'm not sure what the number refers to but it isn't his age I think anyways.

Eric Davis is a former player and I think he was #44.

He played CF for the Mariners, and maybe the Reds?

Eric Davis (#44) was my first favorite baseball player on my first favorite baseball team as a kid, and arguably the most exciting 5-tool player in the game before injuries took their toll. Lightning quick bat and super fast. Nice guy, too. I wrote him a letter and he made me a member of his fan club - sent me a t-shirt, autographed photo, and a workout regiment for becoming a better ballplayer. I wore that t-shirt under my uniform all the way through high school. Here is his baseball-reference page:

Eric Davis was a beast with the Cardinals when I had him on Microsoft Baseball 2000 on the PC. :D

His 162-game average during his peak years was .277/.371/.527 with 37 homers and 52 steals, and he played hurt most of the time. Makes you wonder what he could have done if he had played on a natural surface - the AstroTurf in Cincy was essentially green concrete.
