I have been having so much fun with MLB PP 2008 the last couple of days. I bought it from Amazon for about $7 a few days ago for PS2. I have played the Success mode mostly this weekend but I am having problems getting through it. I think my stats are good enough I just need to get better at the actual game controls for hitting/fielding. My player has B contact D Power etc but I am having trouble doing it in game to show the scouts my skills. But just so I know, what is the baseline for your players skills to get "Clear" Or does it even matter? Do you just have to win or have a good game for the games your player plays in? I wish they would drop another Power Pro US release. I like these so much more that 2k series. Power Pro is very in depth and has custom team options that I love. |

YES! Another Brewers fan! Welcome to the forum! ![]() You have to clear the scouts eval to pass into AAA in Success Mode. To view that, you go to where you see eval and likability in the main Success menu, on the opposite end of where practice is on the menu. In AA, you just have to get a few hits per game, and you'll get enough points. The scout's test really helps with points too. Practicing where the coaches head is gives you coaches eval, and sometimes even scout eval. In AAA, you have to earn your right as a starter. You can view coaches eval in the same spot as scout's. You have to pass the coaches eval bar to start, and the scout's eval bar to pass into the MLB, all before the end of the season. Hopefully that answers your questions. Maybe I'll try to upload a few Success videos, and show you how its done. Would you guys rather see a pitcher or a fielder? Ask if you need more help! ![]() |

I am in AAA now but I don't get to start until the game s Galaxy sharks where GIL says he is going to the Major Leagues after the game, then I get fired... HA HA. |

Yeah, you'd have to do amazing in the game to get promoted if you saved that late into your career. You'll probably have to start over. |

I'll probably still start it over. But I actually got a hit in the game but it ended in a 0-0 draw. So I was not fired and the story line changed a little. But now it wants me to play a full game full control. So I might practice a but more before I see what I can do in this game. I really feel that my actual game control skill are killing me, as I am having a LOT of trouble batting for some reason in success mode. I usually only get 1 maybe 2 hits a game right now. |

You must be doing really good if you made it to the final game versus the Galaxy Sharks. Is your scout eval high enough to pass? If it is, just focus on getting better. If it isn't, focus on getting that up, no matter what you have to practice. A tip for the actual game vs. the Galaxy Sharks: Siitch is really good. You'll have a LOT of trouble hitting off of him. So, every inning, try to make him throw at least 10 pitches. This usually means watching every pitch until there are 2 strikes, then trying to get a hit, until Siitch gets tired and is pulled from the game. After that, bat like normal. With your character, you might want to ignore that rule, and just focus on getting a hit with him. Good luck! ![]() |

Good luck! ![]() The two things I do when facing Sittch are simple: be as patient as possible and get him tired, and I personally sit on his change-up because I find it easiest to hit. Whether that specifically reigns true for you or not, the same basic theory should apply. Also, I only practice when there are coaches around, other than when I think I need the skills, and I spend quite a bit of time, at least early on, with the Sittch arc (totally worth it, especially for the mentality) and the steakhouse arc (the stamina or power boosts are great, and it's a funny arc ![]() Ah yes, and I personally love the whole save-and-reload method of doing things so I can make my players stacked skillwise. Gambler's Ring and a ton of patience ftw. |

I never do dating arcs, because there's too much chance. Goodjob on the other hand... |

Good luck! ![]() Well it may be normal, as this is my first time this far in Success mode but I didn't get to play in one game in AAA until the LAST game vs Galaxy Sharks and Gil. If I lose that game my player is fired. but this last time we one the rematch (which I had no control over). And now I am in this game vs Sittch since he just revealed he was a spay for GS. I admit I neglected the free time arcs like Sittch and the Steakhouse because I was trying to build up my player to start. Now I still have a pretty good little gap in my scout bar so I don't know if I'll make it or not. I might have to win the game with 3 HR.... And about practice and the coach, Do you practice only when a coach is available? Also, if the coach is at fielding practice, then I should practice fielding even if I think I need more batting or weight training? Thanks for the help. |

Depends on what type of player you're going for. If you're going for a high-stat player (A's and B's) you practice at all times. If you just want to clear the game you practice ONLY with coach icon. Fielding gets you technique points just like batting does. And yes, you do. |

Thanks, this player I am trying for a good power hitting catcher. Currently he is TRJ 3 Contact B Power C. Not necessarily all A's and B's but decent stats. He is actually D's, E's and F's in all other stats. Do they continue to get better after they make the show? I really want to make enough decent players to be competitive with a custom team of custom players in a season or something. |

They do not improve after the final screen. I recommend Glove Waxes and Spike Waxes. You must have an equipped (non-default) glove first. You can improve them within Season however. |

Are you kidding? If you do the steak arc, you can get 25 power from one visit, and then 5 power from all the rest after you get past that part in the story. You can also get 40+ technique points for every time in the Siitch arc. Like I said, I want to do a Success Mode play-through sometime. Then I can show you how I play Success Mode. The players keep improving in Season Mode, yes. |

OK, I just got done with the game. I think most of it is real life skill at the game.... I lost 3-0 and I went 1-4 with a double. Needles to say I was fired. soooo, I guess I need to get better at the game in general. I played a exhibition just before and got a lot of hits and won 3-2. But it seems so much harder in success mode. Is there a place I can set difficulty for success mode? |

Nope. Success Mode has a set difficulty(you can't change it) that is really hard for beginners. You just gotta practice. The more you play, the easier it gets. I used to be like you, struggling to pass, and I was making really bad players. But I kept trying, and I can now pass every time, and I'm making good players now too. The more you play, the more tricks you learn to help you pass. Just keep trying! Good luck! ![]() |
