Thanks to a save tool that transfers PS2 saves to PS3, I finally found a way to get the hex to my PC and do some editing. I haven't uploaded any changes yet, but I'm pretty sure I can give a pitcher a 255 mph fastball. There may be an override code, but I can definitely plug the numbers in. I can't imagine what that would look like. Sidd Finch, anybody?

Dude, if you can pull this off, your name will forever be enshrined into the Power Pros Hall of Fame, whatever that's worth.

Is it possible to give out a password for this guy, assuming you can do it?

This would probably be possible.

I know you can hack the Japanese games to get an impossible-to-hit breaking pitch (looking for video at the moment). So I would say that this too, is a possibility.

It would be incredible to see, that's for sure!

Definitely. I have some more work to do first. Like figuring out how to turn a .PSV file into a readable PS2 save before dumping it back into the PS3. I also have a few more hex strings to decode, but so far I can edit just about everything - names, jersey #s, birthdays, abilities, stances/swings/deliveries, appearances, stats, lineups - basically everything but a player's salary, contract years, years to FA and years of experience. Those are driving me mad. I should also be able to make all teams start with 40 players and fill the FA screen with players as well.

Wow. That seems complex.

How do you hex, anyways?

So just to double-check this, are you sure that once you input the 255mph thing, that it won't go 105 mph and have the on-screen text say 255?

Save files are condensed using hexadecimal code, and you can open those on your PC with any free hex editing program. I have been using HxD. MLBPP is a 16-bit game, so all of the data is stored in clumps of 16 (0123456789ABCDEF, 00 = 0, FF = 255, E8 03 = 1000, etc). Finding the appropriate data in a save file (which is huge) and decoding those numbers takes time, but you can search for specifics on the console and then look for matching patterns in the hex file. Also, Excel or something similar is a must.

No guarantee, but the mph hex is tangled together with control and stamina for each player, and sandwiched between special abilities for hitters and pitchers . . . so if anything, it's the text that might be suspect.

Wow. I'm going to be incredibly jealous of people with this on PS2 if it works.

Well, I've got to say. I am impressed that you can comprehend such a thing!

Yeah, I would've gotten confusion-caused insomnia by now.

This is assuming that he isn't already for all those roster updates.

This alone would make me buy the PS2 version of this game.

That's why you need both systems. :P
P.S. If you did this, could you do something like, say, give a guy multiple ORIG pitches?

Good question. I haven't looked at any Success players yet, but I am going to say there is a 100% chance I could put one ORIG pitch in each slot (five total) and that they will work just fine. Same with a Lvl 7 2SFB.
