Messing around with a player in MLB Life mode, built him up through several seasons so at this point I'm bored and trying to max him out. I've had lock on 5 on for a bit and I've hammered a good number of homers in the high-and-outside area but have yet to get a hot zone there, was wondering if the max is 6 or I just have to keep at it. Also, infield hitter is really annoying to get when I hit so many line drives even on lock-on-0/normal. But the other random thing is my team is randomly playing me (a shortstop) at C. So I'm getting good block and good catcher but unfortunately not getting any good at being a catcher. Doesn't seem to be severely hurting my fielding, but I wish it'd at least give me a second position out of this. Any idea how long this will last? (playing for Sox, they still had varitek but now only bring him in late in the game, and start lugo at SS and me at C) |

PS does the private jet do anything? I searched for it and couldn't find anything... |

Off-topic: You know, there's an edit button in the bottom right corner of the post... On-topic: There is no proven and found-out way to get all hot zones in MLB Life Mode. Also, you probably will never get the 2nd position ability. Thirdly, the private jet is just the alternative to the plane to take you to the games. |

So you don't get any benefit from the jet, it's just a status symbol? Ok. I was told I'll never get second position, which is why I want them to stop playing me at catcher. Apparently my hitting is so useful it makes up for me being a bad catcher (though I have a great arm, great fielding and great E-res even if I don't play C, and I'm getting close to good block and good catcher). Alright, was just curious if there was a max 6 hot zones or something. I saw some people say something about hitting homers to get hot zones, and I got my most recent one after hitting a homer up and in. I don't even care about maxing out the player there, I'm just OCD and need symmetry, I was really annoyed when I got my most recent hot zone because before that I had a perfect Swiss flag going. I wish it was possible to figure out what the letters + such mean in the character codes so I could just edit in a position, too bad they're so ridiculous. I made this character hoping to learn positions in my life like you could in season last year, but then found out you can't do it in life ![]() |

I played catcher before when I was a 1B and I won the Gold Glove which was really cool. There is no actualy disadvantage, but you get abilities you'll never be able to get. No, you can get all hot zones. It is possible and you definitely can get more than 6. The letters are completely random and changes everytime and I can prove it. |

Man don't even get me started on the SS playing catcher bit. I found that out while playing an MLB Life pitcher. Around year 3 my team (Mets) hired Cesar Izturis who was for some reason my personal catcher the entire year. My ERA ballooned from so many passed balls and the like. The odd thing was we didn't even have a legitimate catcher on the team so sometimes I'd see things like Mark Teixeira come in to relieve Izturis. I ended up remaking the guy anyways cause I wanted a different pitch selection (Success mode had scorned me at this point but that's another story). Same team, same results except this time is was Nomar Garciaparra who was even worse than Izturis. I think he racked up 60+ passed balls one season. The frustrating part? We had Bengie Molina, Jason Kendall and Jason Varitek on the bench! Kendall would occasionally come in in the 7th though. It's gotta be a bug in the game or something. |
