Pedro passed his medical and is going to sign with the Phillies. Obviously, he is going to help the Phillies make a run for the playoffs and a repeat. I know there are alot of Phillies fans here in this forum. :( Wonder where Yankees fans went. Since Pedro is a very good starter or at least was, how will this affect the trade for Doc. Since I believe the Phillies were the leader in getting Halladay. How would this affect the pennant race and how this affects the Halladay trade.

Well, Halladay doesn't have a very good chance of being traded anyway. Since Pedro at this point is maybe an above-average starter at the best (a replacement-level reliever at the worst), he's probably not going to change the Halladay situation too much.

Why isn't this in Free for All?

Bad choice by the Phillies. Good for the Marlins to swoop in and steal the show.

Well, technically, this was part of the 09 season and is kinda related to baseball. I wasnt going to post it in the 09 topic as I found this very interesting that a former Met and 3 time CY Young winner is going to the Phillies and Halladay might end up in a AL East Team.

They already have better players, and frankly, don't need to buy more players.

Pedro doesn't effect Halladay. From what I understand Phillies would have still needed Pedro for the 5th spot even if they do manage to trade for Halladay.

Pedro is a diva and erratic at this age. His FB barely hits high 80s, and he has little endurance. But his changeup is still unreal.

Still think it was a bad choice.

Yeah I'm not sure how much how much better he is than what they had.

Pedro is a pitcher that knows how to pitch. Even with like a 80mph fastball, he still can dominate. He has a very unreal, gay, outstanding changeup that is mixed with a curveball that tends to hang. This is a good move like the one the BoSox made with Smoltz if he stays healthy.

Sarcasm? But really, I'm doubtful. Hope they throw batteries at him, Or Don Zimmer comes out of the stands and beats him up.

No seriously. It is the same case with Smoltz, but with a lower chance. Yea, Don Zimmer. He should so go and coach the Phillies.
