Just curious...

I recently got the game imported from a friend in Japan and have noticed stealing in this version is WAY harder than 2008. Whereas before you could start jamming the triangle or X button before the pitcher's windup, in 2009 it seems like you have to perfectly time your running: Too soon and the pitcher will just pick you off, too late and the catcher throws you out (even with players that have decent speed!).

So, I guess this is for anyone out there with the game, have you found out any way to increase your percentage of stealing bases? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

I've never played the game and I am pretty sure nobody here has played it either. But if they made base stealing harder it is good in my opinion. It was much too easy before and now it would be so much more realistic.

Well I have and have owned the game since it came out. (The Wii I can speak for)
But yes stealing in this game is a little hard, i think it comes down to the 3 players involved in a steal. I've noticed that when playing on the powerful lvl. That the catchers are more proun to pick off the runners, with low lvl running stats. But the pitcher's with a good control tend to pick off 7 out of 10 runners.

Thanks Goodways. I thought that might've been the case, but I wasn't sure.

BTW- Do you know much about the scouting feature added to the season mode? How does it work exactly?

Well if it's anything like the Japanese games you can tell your scout to scout certain positions, then draft them.

Sorry but this is all I have

Actually, this sounds almost the exact same. There's a scout that can go to different parts of the U.S. You pick which area, say the midwest, and select the position (I believe it's pitcher, infielder, outfielder, catcher) and also the number of stars (1-3).

Could you explain how the process works exactly? What do the stars indicate? What's the purpose of it versus just picking a player at random in the June draft?

Thanks!

The stars symbol their potential (the higher the better) and it is better because you know what the stats are, instead of just randomly chooseing someone that you know nothing about. So, in conclusion it is better to scout someone then to ochoose some player you know nothing about. Since sometimes they are not so great.
