Are you out of luck when this happens? I vaguely recall someone around here saying that they were able to get their data file to work again by resetting the console when the message comes up but maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, that works.

Hmm... why would that happen? I mean, how could resetting the console actually help?

So you don't lose your data.

Yea, but isn't it already corrupted? Or is the corrupted part the new about to be saved data?

RESET

Do not delete your files, just hit the reset button, and it should bring your files back to before the corruption. This is one of the most annoying parts of playing this game on Wii.

The data corruption is what I would like to call a "False Positive", meaning that a fault was detected, but it doesn't really exist.

The error occurs because the power pros game had at least 1 bit get messed up when reading from the Wii HD, so when the checksum was compared, it failed;therefore, giving you the error message. When you reset the Wii, the data is read again and usually everything is transfered just fine.

If after you RESET the Wii at least 2 or 3 more times and you continue to get the message, then your file probably did get corrupt.

Well, I've never had this happen to me, so I can't fully back up SF96. However, I would agree with his theory.

For those of you who think that I'm just trying to increase my post count by replying to this, I'm not. If one person says something, that means that only one person knows it's true. He could have a stupid theory that only he understands, and nobody would know to believe him. You may also not trust this person (I know we all do trust him, I think), so you would want a second opinion on this from someone you trust. Of course, since I don't know if anybody trusts me, I don't know if this helps, but still, it may help in one way or another. People have mentioned that they want to dock certain people's post counts by two if you make a meaningless post, and I don't know who that was exactly aimed at, so I just want to clear this.

Your are correct apple, it is just a theory. It could actually be a true failure that the memory location is starting to fail because people are saving and loading so much.

EEPROM fails in this mode when it gets old that particular memory locations may require a higher voltage to write the data; therefore, the data doesn't always get written. I doubt that the Wii is using EEPROM. It is kind of the memory of the past for save and restore.

By the way apple, I only believe in censorship when it is age appropriate. As I stated on another thread, post count means nothing to me, so 10 = 1000 imo. I think it is nice to know that people are reading your comments, so I would rather have a dozen, "I agrees or disagress" than no response at all.

I agrees.

And as a side note... Apple the small font type is really annoying.

sorry. the reason for that was to diminish its value compared to my actual post so people wouldn't get off-topic talking about it. Surely enough, it failed.

If you want to 'hide' text better you could just color it white (highlight this line to see)

I wanted it to be seen, just not seen as more important than the actual post.
