i know this sounds silly, but i just wanted to know what pitch for each direction gives the most break, and which ones seem more effective to you per direction

i.e. the left direction, between the shuuto, h-shuuto and sifastball, what breaks the most, and what do u guys feel is the most effective?

thnks

SLD family: SLD, because it looks like the H-SLD doesn't break as much.

SHU family: SHU, for the same reason. SIFB is better if the break is 4 (as with dontrelle willis) or more.

CHG: KN and V-SLD. Everyone knows the knuckleball. however, the V-SLD is just that, a vertical slider. it spins like a slider, but breaks like a drop curve. CPUs have loads of trouble with this pitch. CCHG (Circle Changeup) is fantastic at high break.

SNK family: SNK/H-SNK, there isn't much of a difference. SC sucks though.

CB family: SCB (slow curve) is great for guys with a 96 mph fastball and above, i also like KNCB and a good DCB, like Tim Lincecum's.

2-seamer: It's deadly, but only with 2-3 break (it only goes up to three) and at high speeds. kind of like a mini splitter, but at a faster speed.

Favorites:
>Knuckleball
>Vertical Slider
>Knuckle Curve

strikeout pitches:
>curveball that nips the high inside corner.
>low knuckleball/v-sld
>DCB/CCHG that just barely breaks into the top of the strike zone.
>CB/KNCB that starts out in the middle, breaks to the corner.

One more thing:
Throw any pitch that breaks even slightly downward just above the strike zone to let it break downward into the strike zone to avoid a bunt. they'll pull the bat back, thinking it's a ball, but it breaks into the zone for a ball.

Hope that helps, sorry about the length.

The vertical slider is ridiculous at higher levels. If you remember All Star Baseball back on the N64, it reminds me a lot of the sinker in that game. It would go straight like 70% of the way to the plate and then just SNAP down. Getting under a good one was very difficult.

I also think the knuckleball seems to be the most effective pitch in the game at higher levels. It moves a ton and the AI has a heck of a time figuring out what to do with it. In terms of value, maybe the straight change seems like the best bang for the buck when talking about 1-2 rated pitches? I'm sure some would disagree. I just seems to have more success with an okay fastball and 1-2 rated change than any other weak combo.

I think knuckleball is a very risky pitch. If the computer hits it in the sweetspot your most likely dead. But, its a good combo with cutter/SCB becuase the com would not expect what to come. A slow pitch, fast pitch or super slow pitch. I like the fosh/fork good change and speed. Slider is one of my favourites. SCB is my strikeout pitch if its a power hitter. I don't use change up for strikeout. Ill mix up the 4-seam, 2-seam with a slider, SCB and mabye a change up. To get ahead in the count, ill aim for the buttom of the strike zone. So, if its like a 0-2 count. Ill throw the pitch up in the zone and the com either swings at if or it might break into the strike zone.

one trick ive learned with the knuckler is, if youre pitcher is tired, the KN just hangs there. The batters waits for it to drop, it doesn't and BANG! Tally up another K for apple4960!

If you use knuckleball as the K pitch, you would generally get GO. That was what happened when I watch my knuckler play against the com :)

wow, thanks alot steven, i was looking for something like that in the wiki, and u gave it to me there, thanks

but yeh, ive tried the knuckleball, and that just gets HR'ed off of at low levels =/
ive been using HShuuto, HSld, Splitter, and using the splitter as my K pitch,.. it'll definately make a new character with the stuff ur telling me, sounds good =D

thanks

(i thought Hard Shutto meant a hard break,.. maybe it just means like, a faster pitch?)

While its weak at 4 or below, anything above and especially a level 7 knuckleball simply mows down the AIs offense. Combine this with a pitch like a slow curve ball (that they'll think is a knuckle ball) and your virtually unhittable.

thanks. That was just my preferences. By the way, that bunting tip comes in handy against the MachSocks in success mode.

same with mine, Knuckleball bill, made for me by mike

Knuckle is good, but i like the drop curve as well. I have only really pitched a total of maybe 3 games in 08, since i have mostly been doing a life with my catcher version of me, but in 07, drop curve was very good.

I'm so glad someone actually has a V-SLD in this game (Kobayashi, Indians) so I don't have to make a guy.
Although he was awesome:
V-SLD 4
DCB 5
SLV 4
Top Spd: 83 mph
CTRL: D
STAM: C
