Maybe it's me, but I can't seem to acces the walkthrough that allows us to make awesome characters. I can do well by myself, but I'd like to know how to get certain things, or more specifically, how to make a nearly perfect character though he isn't a genius. If it's in that wiki thing, I can't even sign up for it, so I was wondering if it's somehwre here. Sorry if I seem stupid, but I just can't find it. Besides, if I find it, I won't butcher my first genius character, if I happen to roll one. |

you dont need to sign up for the wiki to access it, just to edit it. there is no specific walthrough to the game, just tips to followmsince no one character is the same, and different starting stats, and gd sense/pr sense can change how you play a bit. IE, you do Franks arc for gd sense, and work at the steak house a bit since at higher levels, it will be easier to raise power that way. Some things stay constant, however, like saying no when talking to bison, working for Jaw to get a surprise bag and a gamblers ring or secrets/legends book, or following rsoohoo's guide when starting a character viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1309 here. (it helped me create a nearly maxed in stats OF) but if there is anything specific you need to know, It has probably been documented somewhere, unless its about the gyroball ability. |

There is no Official Guide to Success Mode, as there are different styles of play to create different styles of players. Play at the pace you want to, and that will dictate more-or-less the range of players that you create. Here are the BASIC variations of methods of play, there are many similar variations: Completely overpowering steroids-injected freak of nature: Save and Reload for perfect practices, reload for only the best REs and successful Dr. Goodjob boosts, batting 1.000 and winning every game. "I need a Real Life ball player re-inserted into the game" or an Easy entry into MLB Life: Save and Reload for mostly perfect practices, reload for the REs that provide the abilities the player needs and successful Dr. Goodjob boosts, batting .400+ and winning every game. Normal-Expert level entry into MLB Life: Save / Reload on injuries, failed Dr. Goodjob runs, and save/reload to ensure passing the level/game. Hardcore Mode: One passthrough, NO save / reloading allowed. Beyond this, the REs and ability acquisition have been mostly solved around the subforums, just do a search. The ability to obtain characters all-along the spectrum are possible with all methods (except the first, which is devoutly pushing for perfection). All pages on the wiki are available to the public, you only need wiki rights to edit the pages. |

I have a log in my signature that shows you some of the things I did. It's pretty similiar I think to what most people do also to make great success players, check it out ![]() |

Well, if that's the case, I suggest that we make a master Guide, something along the lines of a basic skeleton, or a good base to start from. I mean, I have yet to be able to discover how to gain abilities after games, which sucks, because I could really use that kind of information. But my point is, probably have a topic where everyone posts their successes in Success mode, all the positives, what has worked, and from there get the most consistent strategies so that time is used most efficiently, and so that we can have a good idea what to look for. Personally, I would like to know what's the best way to get every ability without sacrificing your player's ability. For example, if I were to finally roll a Genius, I wouldn't want to butcher him by ending up with a handful of abilities, throwing 4 pitches under level 5, with C control, A stamina topping at 100. Pretty specific, yes, but I don't want to take that risk. I for one am willing to contribute to this master guide, but I want to know who else will be willing. |

The Wiki for 2008 is in the proccess of being built and we've been pretty slow recently. If you look at it, things are rappidly being added and the only big problem so far are the random events. If you do sign up for the wiki, there is a section for guides under Success Mode and we'd be more then happy to have a walk-through like guide there. In the guide section, you can put things that aren't necesarily conrcrete fact that are more opionions and suggestions, allowing for a more personalized guide. If you don't want to sign up, I can post a guide up (if you write one) for you and give you credit. You could make a thread about it in the Success mode section and I'm sure many people (including myself) would be happy to chip in. The reason why their can't be a set walk-through is that there are so manny different playing styles, random events that have never been seen, and different type of players that it would be impossible to put it all in one guide. But we can have guides for certain ways through and that's what I hope will be added one day. I still play 07 occasionally and I find events that I've never seen on the wiki or in real life before all the time. |

Well, all the info is already here, it's just I wanted to try and put everything together so that we would know how to create a perfect, or nearly perfected charcter. If I had a guide like that, i could just focus on the things that interested me most, and from there, I can just go through any way I wanted, but whenever I do something like this, I HAVE to make them perfect, don't know why, it's just how I am. But yea, I mean, from what I know, I can add tid bits and what not, but that's it, because everyone else seems to have strategies that are more efficient than others. |
