I am definitly going to get one of them and while i am not loaded with money now i can spend the 40 dollars. I am a huge baseball fan and after playing MLB Power Pros 08 for the DS which i play nearly every day i am thinking of getting this. So my question is should i get this one or last years it is a 20 dollar difference. IGN said that if you have last years there is really no reason to pick of this one. What do you guys think? I am sorta concerned with the stats difference like i dont want really old stats for the players.

Wow. IGN is sooo stupid then. This has my life mode and an all new success mode with a returning character. And if you like it for the DS. That's practically a demo, get this...

Read my lengthy review thread at the top of this forum. It'll tell you much more of what you need to know about 2007 vs. 2008 than the IGN reviewer who probably spent all of an hour with the game did.

Look at the DS version carefully. I don't have a DS, but the feature set is so crippled that I doubt I'd buy this game for the DS even if I did.

I think this version blows away last year's. Compared to the annual upgrades that most EA games get from year to year this one got an entire new and deep gameplay mode in the form of My Life and Success Mode was completely redone. It's not perfect but complaining about how the game isn't different enough is the kind of complaint game companies see and include a new "pitching stick control!" and "enhanced HR reactions!" while not even touching the rest of the game.

To say it "blows away" last year's version is an exaggeration to say the least. Success mode is *always* different/new in this series, this is just only the 2nd in the American series so if you weren't familiar with the Japanese series you wouldn't know that. For all we know this year's Success mode story is a direct port/translation of the 1998 Pawapuro version (I'm not saying it is, just pointing out that it is entirely possible). And a new/different story doesn't automatically make it better than last year. Personally I like the 2007 Success mode story and game mechanics better than the 2008 one. 2008's is good, don't get me wrong, but different != better.

And the Japanese series has had "My Life" mode for years, so it wasn't like Konami had to write it from scratch. You can go back to the feature request thread on 2K Sports' forums from early this year and see where I specifically requested they put My Life mode into this year's game (which they did, renaming it MLB Life).

So when you consider that the rest of the game/modes are largely unchanged from last year or have very minor updates, it's not at all unreasonable to be a bit critical regarding some of the things that didn't get fixed or added.

That's not to say 2008 is bad, I think it's great. MLB Life mode alone has been worth the price of the game for me. If I had to choose one or the other I'd pick 2008 for that reason alone. If MLB Life mode wasn't in 2008 and the only real difference between 2007 and 2008 was Success mode, I'd choose 2007.

So what i am hearing is 2008 right I dont think i am really crazy for the whole rpg type gameplay i really just want to play the game. From what i read it Wyl's review i only get to do one players at bat for the MLB Life mode and Success mode right? If so this game might not be for me i dont know....... Also are you allowed to change stats of players like lets say i get 2007 would i be able to change the stats to a players current season?

you can also edit their skills if you think they are under/overrated.

Also, in last year's game there wasn't ryan braun, hunter pence, edinson volquez, johnny cueto, rick ankiel, etc.

Hey not to be off topic but my brawl online is amazing it works perfectly and i play with over 30 different people mabye your friend had a bad connection.

i just have a bad connection, so i couldn't play any madden 08 games online.
this year, i'm 2-0 in my league so far.

Okay guys i got it played it for an hour or 2 its pretty fun. The batting and pitching i believe are better in the ds but i mean the game is pretty cool still i guess i have to get used to it i still cant hit too good even on novice for this game. Also another problem i am having are my fielders. In the DS version you had an option where they move and catch it but you chose what to do with the ball but i went to semi auto in this game and thats not really working out too well
