is the shuuto like a screwball or something? and also are there any other change up type pitches in the game besides the straight change and the circle change?

A lot of people say it's like a backward slider. I've seen some people argue that a few MLB pitchers actually throw one (Greg Maddux for example) but it's almost always call it a two-seamer or sinker of some even though it generally has freakish movement for that kind of pitch. You know when he throws inside to a lefty and the pitch rips back over the plate but without much drop? That's the one. Myself, I'd just consider it part of the sinker/screwball family.

So far as the change-ups go I'd consider the palm ball a change. It's certainly used like one, but I don't think many MLB types throw it because it's hard to control (supposedly). Pretty sure Roy Halladay uses one as his change. You could make an argument for the forkball being a change of sorts too.

We have a winner! Survey says: The Shuuto is like the Cutter or Two Seamer in a sense it is like a fastball, but with break to it that can or can not be natural to the pitcher. The Shuuto, here in America, is also known as the Running Fastball, which quite a few pitchers can throw, are is thrown Naturally, Johan Santana being one of them.

Jake Peavy does too.

That should actually be Fastball Life 4 I think. I mean, some people only throw a 2-Seamer and not a 4-Seamer. That's what kind of sucks about PP.

I would say that Fastball Life 4 is more subtle (and possibly in the opposite direction) than the shuuto spin. Fastball Life 4 won't take speed off the top, whereas the Shuuto Spin would.

Tom "the Terminator" Henke used to throw the palmball. It was his "out" pitch that paired up with 90+fastball.

So that's why SHuuto spin is bad, huh, makes sense. I always liked it because of the movement it had, so I didn't mind it when pitchers had Shuuto Spin, wel rookies or anything like that.
