Using a few aspects to create this list:
1) vanilla MLBPP08
2) simulation performance NOT manual play
--2a) based on seeing statistics from 12+ years of playing the game
--2b) subjectively included fielding since the game doesn't offer many stats for that
3) only for a 1 year sim (not dynasty wise)

(honorable mentions are not in ranked order)

Just commenting a nod of appreciation and respect for listing Power Pros legend Zach Duke as the best pitcher in the game

C.Pena is absolutely broken as a hitter.

from my personal experiences, he seems somewhat inconsistent with batting average. And the way this game works is that you can't have a 45 HR hitter with a .200 BA, most of the players with 40+ HR are usually batting .260 or better. so with his lower average comes a lower HR total.
but when he goes off he's top 10 in the league, no doubt
