Dude. While the rest of us were discussing what sort of attributes to give high school players, you were going on and on about your major-league caliber, 8-pitch repertoire and how a convoy of scouts are gripping your nuts despite your lack of velocity, command, or an actual team to play on. Admit it: You were shopping for a verbal hand-job. You created this thread and addressed your awesomeness in four consecutive posts because the first three went ignored. Once it became apparent to the rest of us that this thread was an ode to your golden arm, that’s what we discussed. You left us with no choice. Sorry it didn’t turn out the way you wanted it too.

No, you guys were just trying to call me out. I was just humanizing MLB players because high school players can be very good with some major league attributes. Honestly, a high school player is not going to have all G's and what not as real stats, that is absurd. Yes, I may have been talking about myself, but it was more of an example. If I wanted a verbal handjob, I would have just started a topic in the Free For All board, but no, I did it here so we can make high school teams and use the codes so we can play eachother's teams and what not.

But seriously, just wanted to make high school teams and what not, shoot, if you want to say I'm a braggart, then go for it, but I know my abilities, and I know the abilities of my old team mates, they are not G level players. I mean, really, why make such a big deal our of rating high school players so harshly, when major leaguers aren't inhuman beings? There are high school players out there who can hit bombs with Maple just as good as any big league power hitter, but you don't seem to take that into consideration. But is that what you really thought was going on, just a way for me to brag? No, I can do that with people who can actually see me, anything can be said or believed here, so there's really no point of saying it here unless there's some validity. I just said how I would make myself, that's it, if you want to take it as bragging, then go for it, but I'm not, I'm just saying what I feel should be done.

All of you annoying Lazer and Lazer, BE QUIET!!! I can come on here and say I'm Roger Clemens, but I'm not. Screaming at him isn't going to prove anything. I'm not A-Rod! I'm Derek Jeter

When you make it to the majors..... let me know.

I'll apologize for questioning your abilities.

BTW, very funny (and true) post Eric Davis.

you guys do realize how good you have to be just to make it to AAA, much less the majors.
you have to be one of the top, what, 500-600 baseball players in the country.

this is something I found, it's about football, but nevertheless is still good:

A kid playing varsity high school football has roughly one chance in 65 of a college football scholarship. A young man playing college football has roughly one chance in 100 of making an NFL roster. Roll the two together and you'll find that a high school varsity football senior has roughly one chance in 6,500 of ever receiving a paycheck from the NFL. The chance of sticking around the NFL long enough to make pro football a career -- earn lots of money, become well-known and then enter some form of sports-related employment when your ankle-taping days end -- is maybe one in 50,000.

More like 224 picks, many of whom are either cut or sent to the practice squad before the regular season begins.

there's always canadian football. :P
but seriously, the difference b/w baseball and football is that there is usually around a hundred players on the injury report each week.
that's when the backups step in.
look at tom brady.

who's heard of the Mr. Irrelevant prize?

Yes. You have a 1 in 6,500 chance of even making it to the pros, let alone avoiding getting cut, becoming a starter, making it to the HOF, etc.

yeh, the odds are pretty steep. among the athletes I knew from high school, you've likely never heard of any of em. unless you're a Pirate fan, and are wondering who the heck that Jaramillo guy is that they traded for just now...and from my hometown, you've probably only heard of one guy: Caron Butler (I've never met him, but my cousins knew him from back in the day). Two if you count Duane Kuiper.
i remember back in 98, I tried out for the baseball team (heh, I stuck on the football team for four years. I wasn't any good, but I musta been doin something right  ) and somehow deluded myself into thinking I'd be a decent CF. I was a nose guard in football. Any of yall who remember Major League-Back to the Minors, I looked like Pops Morgan out there (really, i wanted to pitch) Me and the coach were on good terms, but we both knew I wasn't cut out to play ball.
