I'm looking at the Pirates AAA website, and I have a few suggestions on who it might be:

Steven Jackson
Juan Mateo
Daniel McCutcheon
Ty Taubenheim

You could definitely use Bennett to make one of those guys, but Taubenheim has 2 ys experience, Jackson has 0, Mateo was with the Cubs organization when the game was released and McCutcheon was with the Yankees until the Ohlendorf trade.

So chances are it's Jackson?

No, because Great Bennett has one year of previous experience. So far, Sean Burnett is the closest fit - he spent part of one season in the bigs prior to 2008 and he had logged more than a few innings in 2008 when the game was released - but he's left-handed and Bennett is right-handed. Maybe they just got it wrong?

EDIT:
Virgil Vazquez fits the bill . . . but he was with Detroit when the game was released.

I just finished combing the entire list of pitchers born in 1982 with major league experience through 2008. Since there isn't a single guy who fits all the criteria (experience, birth year, handedness, team), it would seem Great Bennett was ultimately intended to be Sean Burnett and MLBPP just got his handedness wrong.

Virgil does fit in very well, except for what you have Eric, but also he has impeccable control. Sean Burnett does as well, so 70 control seems to low to be any of them really... I know MLBPP sometimes under/over rates people.

However we musn't forget this, look at the hitting stats for great Bennett, Contact is 8 and his Power was 96. Burnett isn't that good of a hitter, is he?

Also, Sean Burnett is "white", while the Great Bennett in this game is "black".

I don't think this is Sean Burnett. It also seems very unlikely that they would mess-up his handeness.

It can't be Virgil because he was still a Tiger when the game released as you said Eric. But I don't think it's Sean either beacause of color of skin and possibly hitting stats.

You can edit skin color, too. Besides, Great Harris on the Rockies could be Ian Stewart, but he's black in this game, so you can edit that.

This has nothing to do with editing skin color, it's the fact that you have seemed to conclude Bennett is Sean Burnett, but Burnett is "white" while Bennett is "black".

I think, Great Bennett is Yoslan Herrera, he's a starter, and "black" but the problem is that Yoslan was born in 1981.

I'm saying, I think we need to re-visit this and figure it out. To be honest the suspense is killing me.

Most of the Great players look nothing like thier real life counterparts, so forget about skin color - I'm pretty sure Kevin Millar was black and Barry Bonds was white in the 2007 version, and 2008 is no different in that regard.

There are three probibilities:

1) It's Sean Burnett, add they got the handedness wrong.
2) It's Yoslan Herrera, and they got the birthdate wrong.
3) The designers, needing another pitcher for the Pirates roster, created a fictional player and put him in the game.

Whatever you want him to be, that's what he should be. In my game, he's Sean Burnett. Fact is, I can edit handedness but I can't edit the birthyear.

I made him Sean Burnett and put him on the nationals

I also made him Virgil Vazquez because everything is the same except he didn't play for the pirates when power pros came out

The Barry Bonds was black, Millar was black too. I made it Sean Burnett as well vbut also made it Virgil Vasquez.

Now if you take a look at Burnett and Herrera stats you'll that Herrera has many more starts both at majors and minors than burnett. s that could indicate it's Herrera beacause Bennett has B stamina.

I'd like the note that great lopez(red sox) is more likely Jeff Bailey than chirs carter. Chris Carter didn't play in the majors when this game came out and Jeff Bailey did and I think the years might or might not match up

Also, Great Scott on the brewers is Laynce Nix who was on the brewers and now on the reds
The birth years dont match up for mel stocker so Nix is a very logical choice
