Even though I don't have an iPhone yet, this game looks to be pretty good, and that's one of the reasons why i'm wanting an iPhone...

The IGN review. It's not very good, but what interests me is that first paragraph...

Off topic, I know, but I got an idea:
what if we e-mailed Konami instead of 2k sports?
They're the ones actually making the game, you know.

I don't think it would make a difference. They have already decided not to make the game because of financial reasons probably, and a handful of teenage kids saying pretty please isn't going to persuade them to make the game.

We could at least get an answer out of them, or a real opinion.
Just an idea, not saying i'm gonna do it.

I have an iPod touch; so I took the liberty of buying the game and downloading it.

Well. What can I say....it's not like they took powerpros 08 and crammed it into an app. It more reminds me of the DS versions of the power pro series, that is without success modes and such.
There's not much content, as no licensed teams can be used.
Hitting is easy once you get the timing down (I can't, resulting in a ton of foul balls).
The "season" mode is kind of sad. It's more like "play x number of games as x team in a row" mode.
I was delighted to hear some music tracks from '08.
There are only 2 stadiums though...fielding is a joke as it is either Auto or Semi-auto (then again fielding manually on an iPod Touch would be hell)
You can play games online, but i haven't tried that yet. Announcer fragments but doesn't talk as much as in '08 (thank god)
Overall, not the best game, but for quick sessions of fast powerpros slugging on the go, not bad. Worth the price since it has a wireless feature.

as noted on the 2K sports forum, there's an updated version. Which means that Konami was happy with the results of the game so far. Also, it's on sale from 7.99 to 3.99 right now. this coincides with the new iphone 4, which has a gyroscope for motion, similar to that of a wii remote. unfortunately, the look of the Power Pros app was truly great, but the gameplay was lacking. So, that new retina display won't help much. But, if Konami can utilize the great motion control in the future, that could help the gameplay a lot.
