Hey!

Couple questions. I just started geeking out on this game. LOVE it.

I am playing a regular season. I did a fantasy draft. This isn't the MLB life or the one where I start out as a AA guy. This is plain jane, I'm running the team for 10 years.

So, I have a pitcher who sucks. I want to pick up a free agent. However, there are none to be found and I can't find in the search perameters where to find players who don't belong to any team. What am I missing?

Also, every game I win like 350 points from accomplishments and 2000 every time I play a game. However, how and where do I use these points? It never seems like my points add to the owners money. And when I bought a hot dog, I lost 30K and didn't see any improvement on my team being so worn out.

It seems like the only tips and tricks I find are on doing the version of the game where I start as a minor leaguer. Where can I find tips for the season game?

thanks everyone. I really appreciate it!

ken

The points (2000) are used @ the shop at the main menu to buy pitching forms, uniforms, stadiums, etc.

Those 300 points do get added, every day you lose a little bit of them due to salary.

About f/as, usually they're all gone at least at the end of the first month. There will be another chance during the season to aquire free agents: right after the draft.

Hope this helps.

The 350 points you get from accomplishments, such as hitting 2 or more doubles or one or more triples, go directly to your owner points but you must also be aware that your salaries of your players take points away from your points, to figure out how much take the salary/days left in the season.

The 2000 you get from playing a game happens when you play through an entire game without simming and using fast game. You can use these points in the Shop on the main menu, where you see Exhibition, Success, League.... You can buy unique pitching forms, baseball cards, alt uniforms, and more stadiums.

As for the hot dog, it's actually one of the more useless items you can have. It helps cure fatigue when you go into practice and put your guys in "Rest".

And yes items are expensive, don't buy too many unless your good on money.

anyways, the only thing i ever buy from the shop in season mode is MAYBE a proof of friendship, so i can get another group, but I move players around so much grouping them is useless.
the shop in the main menu, i really only use for batting and pitching forms, as well as stadiums.

FRICK! so I spent 30K on a pointless hot dog?! I'm not gonna be able to get that back! dang it! thanks for the feedback!

Well....I'm dissappointed. Can't believe every guy is taken and I got such a panzy in Wainright. I guess I need to only let him throw 65 pitches. that seems pretty week for having a B stamina.

Do I need to worry about my other guy's fatigue? seems like all my starting rotation are all fatigued. I've been giving most of my players off on Thursdays and Sundays which makes it hard to win those days. Or do I need to worry about any of that?

Also, I bought a season bonus at the shop on the main screen. Does that carry over to my season play?

And should I buy anything important in there or is it just for fun? (I couldn't pass up the Giants' spring training jersey.)

I grew up playing Baseball Stars on the NES and this game has been the best baseball game since then. I really like it and am glad there are some other guys that do too.

thanks!

The season bonus gives you extra Pro Points. If you want to do success mode, then you can buy batting stances and pitching forms at the shop. If you want to make an Arrange Team, then you can buy stadiums for your team so their home games aren't at another team's ballpark.

The season bonus only works at the beginning of the whole mode, though. Also, you can't use Alternate jerseys in Season or Arrange (if you want to fix the Giants roster), just in Wii Remote and Exhibition.

Hot Dogs aren't pointless, since fatigue will affect the performance of your players at least a little. But many of my players are fatigued and they still hit 40 homers.

When playing season mode, exploit the computer's stupidness in trading. As long as you have at least a two star trade, you can save and reload until its successful. (I assume you know what save and reload means.) Most of the time, with 2 star trades, you can rip off anybody.

yeah...unfortunately I am too fond of my team and don't want to trade just anyone. I was really hoping on a bank of guys who never got drafted.

Thanks for the help.

Sidebar: Is there a thread with tips and tricks for the season mode or game play in general? I have seen some pitching tips, but not much on hitting or defense. I feel like I'm still getting used to the game and my defense still trips me up. I give up a lot of easy base hits because I don't field properly. I'm guessing a lot of that will come in time with practice.

Yeah a lot of the fielding is just getting to know which player you'll automatically control on different balls in play.

Using a six-man rotation really helps.

Hitting, you either get it or you don't. You can turn down the difficulty (in Options) until it's easy enough, and adjust accordingly. As for fielding, I just use the Automatic Fielding.
