He destroys me in this game. Is there some hidden algorythm in the game that makes him get a monsterous hit every single time he comes to the plate? He actually hit a homer on me recently without using big hit and I've intentionally walked him ever since.

Same with Guererro
He hits the highest average everytime I play MLB life mode, unless we're the batter that is, but how does he do that?

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has it's own reason for existing. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of the mystery everyday. Never lose a holy curiousity

Must be their combination of special abilities, core abilities and hot zones. Not many hitters have Intimidator, but I know Ortiz does and I wouldn't be surprised if Vladdy does as well.

I think the default players, especially the stars, tend to overachieve. Create an Ortiz clone in Success Mode with the exact same stats and abilities (though there's no known way of getting Good Eye) and he probably won't do as well as the real Big Papi in sim games.

Bingo. Or you could edit another player.

I believe this. Remember what MrWelz said about Sifu?

But for some reason, I have better luck hitting with guys like Ramirez and even DeRosa on the Cubs. Does being a rookie have anything to do with it? I know hot hitting zones shouldn't matter because no one else seems to have any either.

Maybe I'm just trying too hard to smash homers with him all the time. :D

so, even a nearly maxed out player still struggles in this case. Also, clones of players I've seen people make in Success have a lower salary, so they're bound to struggle more, right? Does that make sense to anybody but me?

Also, I think it's kind of mental. You get nervous around that player and you pitch differently.

Actually I was refering to performance under AI control, either in matches against the computer or in simmed games. Under human control I don't think you'll see a difference.

Yeah, I agree with that. Mainly because I made an entirely maxed player on all accounts and did a pitching practice. First pitch, smashed for a HR. Good point Odawali.
