Fielding :: Error Resistance? What exactly does either of these effect? I could see how an infielder may be able to pick the ball up or get it out of his glove and ready to throw quicker (even though there are special abilities that relate to this), but what does Fielding do for an Outfielder? If my guy can get to a ball(speed) and not make an error(error resistance), then what does the Fielding Ability do?

I think fielding affects how likely you are to hang on to the ball in diving situations, where if you drop it it won't be considered an error.

I believe Fielding effects two things:
1) Range. The higher the rating, the wider the circumference of coverage a player has with his glove.
2) Transfer. The higher the rating, the quicker a player can transfer the ball from his glove to his throwing hand and get into the throwing position.

That's an E RES situation even if it isn't scored an error. E RES = Sure-handedness.
