I usually can it against most pitchers. Just some pitchers windup catch your eye, then you look at the pitcher, not the strike zone or ball, with me its mostly the guys who pitch submarine.

Santana. Only one I haven't gotten a hit against in 3 years on my guy in MLB life.

Bronson Arroyo owns me for some reason. I can't get solid hit against the guy. he always seems to ge in red or pink condition against me. Thankfully the Reds traded him to the AL.

I live in New England, thus on any baseball video game I play with a friend, I play against the Red Sox. As you see from my profile, I am a Yankees fan. Over time, I developed a good knuckle ball "sense" . You see, many people will over-use starters in exhibition games. Thus being so used to all the different pitchers this way, I can't get through Beckett, Dice-K etc in the first 7 or so innings. Now that I am used to the fastball, they would bring in Wakefield. Wakefield, as we all know, is very slow. Sometimes you will be anxious and swing way early. Better off not swinign or swinging late then swing early. Swinging early just lowers your self-esteem, and also sets you up to swing early again. (Excluding milli-seconds early, or foul balls) . Now that you see the first pitch come in, the second will be nearly identical speed. This time you should make atleast some contact.

Onto where you should swing. Obviously a knuckle ball will drop. If you are still not used to it, with the bat follow the rectile of the ball and swing when you feel the ball will stop breaking. It is easier to swing and miss this way, but you will get the hang of how much it breaks. After awhile, guess where you think it will break to, and swing like a normal pitch.

Hope you all with knuckle ball troubles find this useful, as it made it easier for me.

a yank lover in New England? Your a strong man, anyway my toughest pitcher to hit is Wakefield, Ima use these tips.

The one who wears me out is maddening - R.A. Dickey. He has a big bag of nothing in terms of stuff. His pitches are easy to track, but all I can do is beat the &^%$ing ball into the dirt or hit weak routine flyouts against him. Since he's in the division (Seattle) in my MLB Life run, I see a lot of him too. I can't be more than about 5 for 100 against him.

Another one I struggle with is Brian Fuentes, who has a quick stretch delivery and has a kind of funky delivery where kind of cups the ball. He also has terrible control and pitches rarely end up where the pitch cursor suggests it will -lol-

On some of the others mentioned in this thread - I do pretty well against Santana. For whatever reason he seems to throw nothing but SLV's and CCGH's to me, very rarely brings his 4SFB. I've gotten good at recognizing a lot of his pitches, like if the pitch cursor starts outside the strike zone away there is a 90% chance it is a SLV, and if it starts outside the strike zone inside he's probably trying to backdoor a CCHG. Daisuke is tough for me to track, but I seem to manage to scratch out a hit or two against him each game. Not lining the ball all over the park or anything like that, just managing to hit 'em where they ain't.

Isn't New York part of New England? New England seems to be split 50-50 in terms of Yanks and Red Sox. My town is mostly Yankee fans.

The Rockies have a Draft pick with a 5 knuckleball, 3 cutter and a 2 seamer. I can't hope for a knuckler then have him blow a 2 seamer by me and make me look like a little leaguer. I think I'm 1 for 18 off him last time.

Arroyo was the toughest for me so far. In My Life, he was owning me left and right. My whole team. I finally doubled off him to break up and 0-10 streak against him.

Tim Wakefield for me too. That dirty knuckleball just gets me over and over again.

Wakefield is tough, his knuckler has so much movement at the very last second you're pretty much just aiming to the lower right of the pitch and praying it breaks that way and it's a knuckler.
