Profits are more important than the quality of the game. Every one and a while, a fan favorite with disappointing sales will get a revival, but that won't happen with a sports game. Let alone a cartoon-y one

As I have said before though, a two-console, first time game isn't going to make millions of dollars. They made some money and it had the same number of sales on Wii as the MLB 2K games. If they added it to additional platforms, it wouldn't sell badly at all.

They're not making another one.

You must accept this.

As much as we can bitch and moan about it, the sad truth is it just isn't going to happen.

That's not going to stop me. BTW, I have a magazine that says CC Sabathia's son plays Power Pros on Wii. Having major leaguers advertise a game would skyrocket sales.

I'll show you when I get the camera out, It's night here. Anyways, it is in a New York Post article titled The Best! in an interview with Sabathia. Here's that part of the Q and A
A: (On why son wanted CC to play for Yankees) He plays Power Pros on Wii. The Yankees are his favorite team on that game. So there you have it, Power Pros is the reason Sabathia is on the Yankees. :D

Well then Power Pros sucks, because it made C.C. leave the Brewers.

I kind of understand PP discontinuing after 2008, based on what was said here, but I would have thought that for relatively little money, they could have the Japanese game (I.e., Japanese players), but in English. Since they would have already paid for the rights to use the Japanese league players' names, etc, I can't imagine merely changing from Japanese to English would be much more money, and then they'd be the only Japanese League baseball game selling in the US. It might also open them up to more Spanish-speaking countries like Dominican and Mexico, where more people know English than Japanese.

But why would they do that? At best, they make a very small profit. Odds are they'd still lose money, because how many people are going to buy a cartoon-y game about Japanese baseball?

If they thought like that (who wants a cartoony game), they wouldn't have released 2007 or 2008, and they wouldn't still be selling in Japan. There are Japanese titles with realistic-looking players, but they must still be making money with the "cartoony" power pros since they still make it.

In the grand scheme of things, converting Japanese to English is probably pretty inexpensive, so it might have been a decent risk to take. By sticking with the Japanese players, you're not going head to head against the other US baseball games, so the uniqueness might sell some.

American market Japanese market

Guys, just get over it. We aren't getting another one. You two can go beg to Konami and 2K if you want. Just make sure to tell me how it goes.

Yeah, they don't really want to bring back a series that wasn't that successful, even if the biggest reason for it's lack of success is the complete lack of advertising.

Most people who have played the game have liked it and most other people haven't even heard of it because it wasn't advertised. I've had people that don't even like baseball try it and get addicted to the success mode.

I don't think 2K really cares about the series now. I'm content with the Japanese versions though, konami actually seems to care more when they make it in Japan. If they ever do make another mlbpp for the states I just want them to make it as good as the Japanese versions are.

Yeah, only advertisement I ever saw for the game was in a Sports Illustrated for Kids magazine back in 2007. Never saw one for 2008.

It's really 2k's fault, they really could've marketed to kids and it would've made a pretty big profit, but they chose not to market the games at all.

But if Power Pros 2007 wasn't successful, they would not have made a sequel. Was Power Pros 2008 not successful so they canned it or what? That's what I'm asking myself.
